Why not terraform Venus?
They would be invulnerable to the acid clouds of Venus and it's pretty much identical to earth in size. Plus it would be awesome in the intergalactic wars to have a planet full of Supermen next door

I assume they cut out a scene where Clark asks Zod in that dream vision “Why earth? Why not Venus”
And Zod could have said something like “The world engine is not magic. It needs earth like planets already so terraforming is minimal”
But then WB cut that part out and now we have to fight for this Snyder cut too.
It's too close to the sun. Too friggin' hot.
