I gave it an 8. Why? Because it was entertaining, fast paced, it had great action, a kick-ass predator and awesome merciless aliens, decent story and decent actors, believable and not over the top.

I've read tones of ranting on the forum but everybody just making idiotic complaints. I've yet to read (or notice) any actual flaws or stuff that were extremely off. Only complaints like why did they killed the kids, why was this on earth, why was only one predator sent, why did they nuke them, why oh why etc... which are all plain silly and make perfect sense if you take at least a few seconds to think about.

To those that gave it 4 or less, I'm really curious what sci-fi action movies did you rate a 9 or 10?

Anyway, awesome film, can I have more please?

If you liked AvP:R you will probably like Skyline. That sucked as well.

Ok, I just watched Skyline now and I can say it was really entertaining, acting was ok and not half bad script until the last 30 minutes or so which were cheesy as hell. After they nuked the mother-spaceship they turned the crappy-mode switch on. Until then it was quite good but after it god more and more hilarious. When they kissed in the air at the end I started to laugh. The part were they chopped his head of was really awesome but the stupidity of what happened next is as idiotic as most of the reasons people complain about AvPR.

I gave Skyline a 6 because it had good effects, pretty cool story (up to a point) and was pretty entertaining.

I fail to see how AvPR and Skyline can be compared since AvPR didn't have any cheesy scenes or idiotic characters, and the script made total sense, unlike Skyline.

I really enjoyed Avp-r too. One of my favourite movies ever! It was what I wanted from the franchise and I hope there is going to be an Avp 3 soon!

Wow, I went into this thread thinking 'how could anyone say they thought AVP:R was kick ass?"

I am now baffled as to the fact that you enjoyed Skyline and most notably said that there wasn't any cheesy acting in it.

I wish I could be so easily entertained by movies that I personally feel only a 12 yr old might enjoy. *SIGH*

Well, you better be more baffled for not being able to fully read/understand an entire sentence, something that I personally feel a 12yr old might be able to do.

Let me help you a bit with a hint... focus hard on this part:

PS - I'm only 11 yrs old btw, perhaps that is my problem with sentence structure and reading correctly. Ya think? But my birthday is right around the corner so I am sure I will be able to correct this problem of mine when I turn 12, as you suggested.

Skyline was entertaining? If you say so......

Requiem was a bloody joke. As shown in Alien, the Aliens take time to grow big and mature. In Requiem, they were popping out and morphing into adults almost instantly. Additionally, they were running around seemingly without a purpose. Where was the hive mentality and the thinking and acting as a unit?

25+ years later, there still has not been a sequel or story equal to Aliens.

now see, that attitude is exactly the reason that most people were extremely disappointed by this movie.

There is no reason that an Alien VS Predator movie couldn't be done as seriously as the first Alien movies. The problem is, that the directors took about all the pride and discipline in making this movie, as they would have if it was just some never before seen monsters being presented for the first time in a B movie. But the aliens in particular come from A movie stock; and while 'Predator' was over the top in many ways it was still much more serious than AVP:R.

Most fans of the franchise will cite that the marine campaign for 'AVP 2' [PC game], was on par in many ways with 'Aliens' but still managed to incorporate both the aliens, and the predators. Not to mention all the books and graphic novels that have successfully brought the two species together.

The fact that it has been done numerous times in the past, makes it even more frustrating that directors are botching it up on the big screen.

Kick Ass? No, just Ass.

Like the first reply, the only positive thing I can say about this movie is that it made me think the first A v P wasn't that bad. BTW I though A v P originally was a complete piece of cr*p. Amazing what an even worse film can do.

There are only 3 good parts of this movie.

1. Where the 'Daddy' Predator leaves his world to get to Earth. Good scene.

2. Where the Aliens get amongst the soldiers on the main street of the town.

3. When the POS ended!

Forget A v P! Make Alien 5. Rip off the Aliens: Earth Hive novel if you have to as that was great! Would make an excellent movie.

I agree with the person who said you will like Skyline, another film I looked forward to, only to be greeted with bad acting, an atrocious script and mixed with some decent FX, but the film was a rip off of

Independence Day, Spawn and Cloverfield. (all of which are great action sci fi films to answer one of your previous questions!)

Strausse brothers, please find a new occupation. Or at least stay away from trying to make Sci Fi.

If the people that despise this movie share your taste, it all makes sense now. It's not great, but it is far from "ass".

Get a copy of "Aliens."
Put it in your DVD/Blu-ray player.
Enjoy a 9/10 movie.

I liked AVPR, too.

Alien was better
Aliens is one of the best movies ever made
Alien 3 (rough cut edition) was freaking amazing
Alien: resurection was pretty bad

Predator is one of my all time favorite flicks
Predator 2 I've grown to love. It's grown on me
Predators was freaking amazing

AVP was.... ok.

AVPR was entertaining.

was it ANYWHERE as good as the main series? nah. But I still liked it.
6/10

I hated this movie so much. Tried three times to finish and just can't do it. No plot, no tension, no character, no point! The first was watchable in a mindless way, this is just too painful for me to watch.

Now those are *real* sci-fi action movies.

Now I know I'm probably gonna get ripped to shreds for saying this but whatever: The first time I saw A.V.P.R I thought it was garbage. Then a saw it for $2.00 several years later and picked it up; to complete the collection, you know? So anyway, I watched it again and actually liked it. It's not like I think it's a masterpiece or anything but pretty damn entertaining nonetheless. The only part that still bothers me is when they bomb the town at the end. Why couldn't the Predator do it? I mean, It's practically his trademark.

As for good sci-fi movies, some of the ones mentioned above are pretty neat. I'm gonna go ahead and add Serenity/Firefly, Robocop and Battle:L.A, pretty neat stuff right there.

Skyline on the other hand was just horrible.

I have to say i actually really like this movie too, I have watched it many times and never seem to get tired of it...However......I will say this though, there was some seriously bad acting in it. For example the guy who played Kelly's husband Tim was terrible and also Richie the cook was really bad......Good movie though.

Victims...........arent we all.
