Paxton Character (SPOILER)

Great Thrillers, both 1 and 2.

But I can't stand that he decides to kill Paxton.
That was a major let down.

Paxton's character is a great movie hero - a regular Joe placed in the worse possible predicaments who manages to not only survive, but finds the courage to go back into the jaws of hell to rescue the Asian girl, kills creeps along the way, and even exacts vengeance, in the 1st degree, on the wannabe surgeon at the train station.
He transforms from a naive-party guy into this warrior-survivor with honor and morality intact, which makes him a very compelling person.
Also judging by the themes in this movie, many of the paying-sadists, are trying to gain the type of 'life experience' which can only be earned by difficult situations which you arrive at organically, and ultimately triumph over, like Paxton did.
Why kill a character like this?

Completely agree. Hostel 2 should have been about Paxton.

Agreed, ruins the duology of Hostel 1 and 2. I wrote a comment about this on a youtube video which had the whole movie a while back:

I seriously hate how quick [SPOILER??????] they killed off Jay Hernandez (Paxton), wtf mane?! After his redemption in the 1st film and all the *beep* he went through. Shoulda just left the character out of the film if all he was going to be brought for was to be killed twice. That was a pretty *beep* move and really ruined the duology of Hostel and Hostel 2 as a whole when seen in hindsight. Really really bad move Eli Roth.

The character should have been left alone entirely. Would have added for a great sense of mystery and its left up to the viewer what could have happen to him once he escaped. Much more intriguing. To have one of the best protagonists in a horror movie be done like that after all that character development was just cheap and *beep* shock value which ruined the rest of Hostel 2 for me. The first movie is pointless knowing thats his final outcome. And I love the first Hostel.
