Season 7 is unwatchable

What the what?? Why is 30 Rock season 7 so terrible? The jokes are totally lame, the characters are nothing but masks of their former selves, and the way the show looks gives it a dream sequence feel. I kept waiting to find out that the first ep in season 7 WAS a dream sequence. It's like the Simpson's now or something. It's nothing but lazy self referencing jokes that are only maybe funny to the people who work on the show. I HATE IT

Finally someone who agrees with me! Everywhere I look people seem to absolutely adore season 7 and I can't for the life of me understand why. And don't get me wrong, I LOVE 30 Rock. I love it to little tiny pieces and I've seen every episode at least five times. So it's pretty heart-breaking that the last season was so bad.

Of course, there are a few good jokes here and there and some episodes were okay, but in general the whole season was just... of much lower quality than the others. And yeah, sure, most things were "wrapped up", but I thought most of it was done in a very clunky way. Unfortunately! :/

I agree.

The 7th season was an embarrassment.

I #%*&#ing hated Criss.

I hated the ending.

Yuck.

Season 7? I made it halfway season 4 before I quit. There is no reason to waste time on mediocrity.

Well, you're missing out. Seasons 5 and 6 were definitely a drop-off in terms of writing quality because the new writers Tina hired just weren't as good as the original team. But a lot Season 7 was written by the Original 4 (Tina, Robert Carlock, John Burditt and Matt Hubbard; Kay Cannon was gone for good by then) and there's a lot of funny stuff if you can navigate around the sappy goo of Tina trying to give Liz a happy ending via the Criss plot arcs.

Sorry but I disagree. Unwindulax is one of my favorite episodes.

...Written by Matt Hubbard. See, that's what I mean about the Season 7 shows: the ones written by the original 30 Rock writers are generally worth watching; the others, no.

Season 7 is great. OP is nuts.

No, S7 could not completely salvage the decline of the previous two seasons. Tina was too soft-hearted about babying the new writers. Just because you want to give opportunities to young women writers, that's no reason to glom up your last thirteen episodes of a hit series with their mediocre screenwriting.

I love the series but season 7 isn't my favorite. I kind of feel like 30 Rock had a Seinfeld-vibe, where the characters don't really change or learn lessons very often. And I wasn't that into Criss.. I felt like he was almost too perfect. I feel like season 1-5 Liz wouldn't like him. Or would get bored with him. Would've preferred if they ended the series with Liz & Jack moping as usual and talking about how their going to change, etc, but never do

Hazel is the only character that was just creepy and not funny. Otherwise, the whole show was great IMO.
