Why this movie which in my opinion should not be rated higher than 4/10 is rated over 8!!! when, say, devil's advocate is rated 7.3?
It's really beyond me and I completely lost my trust in imdb. I don't know how to replace IMDB yet but i'll do my best to find some alternatives. I will still read IMDB to see user opinions (especially bad ones) but never trust it again...
It can be explained in that it's your opinion and that your opinion is just one of many. No one site is ever going to 100% agree with you, maybe not even 50%, just as few individuals will ever 100% agree with someone's taste in films. If this is the only film on the entire IMDB who's score you disagree with then you're doing much better than I am. Just look at all the recent blockbusters in the high 7's and 8 ranges, with 10s of thousands of votes that are ranked higher than true classics. It what universe should Transformers be challenging Goldfinger?
Also most new films have inflated or deflated scores, they usually level out over time except for the big fanboyz films that seemed to remain inflated and films directed more at women that seem to be usually underrated. It's why Equilibrium can sport a 7.7 when it's complete incoherent poorly directed trash but hey it's got gunkata! But that's just my opinion otherwise Equilibrium would be rated a 2.
If you really think that, then you are just as dumb as all the other people on IMDB that gives a movie eather a 1 or a 10. Seldom are movies so bad that they deserve a 1 or vica versa. It's just their way of getting their movies rated as high as they want and give it an immidiate 10, or 1 when they hated it. Let's take this movie. It's not worth an 8, but certainly better then a 1, especially with these actors, them alone deserve a 3, leaves the script a.s. which in this case sucked a bit, so it's probebly a small 5 or a big 4. But that's just my opinion and that's what this site is really about, the opinion of people from all over the world. Let's just hope that most people are still honoust when it comes to rating and if you take the time to read some of the post, you will get at least an accurate discription of how the movie was and other fun stuff. I love to read other people's respons and most of them are just trying to tell what they thought about it and from that you can get a more accurate picture of the movie at hand....
You posin' for pictures? Or you gonna pull the trigger? (Crime Story)
I am not easely embaressed and for someone who's not English I think I speak it very well, but writing it is even more difficult, but I think I'm doing a good job most of the time. Just a bit sad that you had to comment on that and nothing about the subject I did write about.

This movie was praised by tons (yes...hyperbole) of my husbands co-workers, but we decided to check it out on IMDB before we watched it. We found the negative comments to be preponderant here. Great....we had to watch it to see where we fell between two extremely opposite poles (or polls).
Well, I have to agree with ilajustatore on not trusting IMDB...but we differ on why...I don't trust comments like ilajustatore's. My husband and I thought it to be a really well-made, suspenseful movie.
Now what is this odd phenomenon? Two people with the same exact opinion, based on exact opposite opinions - weird, huh?
I am pretty sure one of the key factors in how we view movies is what we bring to the table in our own person. I have notice people who bring "very little" to the table have a tendency to raise the ratings of a lot of low-brow flicks; dark, depressed, amoral types send dark, depressing, amoral movies to the top; light-hearted, cheerful folk, love uplifting cheer-filled (what the dark types call sappy or "saccharin") movies, etc.
My advice? Ignore the rating and try to zero in on the voices of people who sound like your "type" in the comments.
different opinions is right, but i agree that this movie sucks. but i think the reason for this high rating is gerard butler. :D he's just too hot...he's the reason i watched the movie..but i'll never wanna see it again,it's really a bad movie,no wonder it didn't make into cinemas (internationally) you just have to wait a while, because only 1.051 people have voted so far and the devil's advocate has 47.741 votes ! ...i guess butterfly needs a 5.7 .. ?
Why look for an alternative? I use imdb to find info on movies, and imdb has that. I never really look at the ratings, I read reviews and watch trailers to see if I might like a film. I also like crappy horror from time to time and they often get rated < 4. No big deal, the movie is just as fun to watch whether it gets a 3 or an 8 on imdb.
