I don't understand her behavior in this role. She acts strangely from the get go and tells Ryan gosling she is his boss and then seems to force herself on him without even getting to know him. Not to mention he's been at this hot shot firm for five minutes before he sleeps with her? Really?! Totally unprofessional.
They were dating before he got his foot in the door at Wooten Sims. They were playing it like they didn't know each other so he could work there under her. That is why they don't talk long when at Wooten functions and he sat far from her at the opera. Also at Thanksgiving dinner his interaction with her family makes it clear that they have known him for quite a while. Had he stuck to being a prosecutor the relationship would not have lasted because she values her image above everything and when he shot himself in the foot she wanted him to pull out of the case because she fought Wooten not to fire him trying to salvage the "work" relationship. Even when that didn't work she tried to keep the relationship with him knowing he was out of wooten but when he confronted her at work she went cold and picked her lifestyle/career over even their outside relationship.
Interesting. That seems plausible, but the film never made it explicit that they previously knew each other. If I remember correctly she introduces herself as his new boss, right?
