I just finished watching this little masterpiece and I'm dying to find another one that at least comes close. Any recommendations, anyone?

shareAnother movie like this one (kind of) would be Neverending story. I just love that movie so much.
fantasy movies:
The Dark Crystal is another
Labyrinth
A lot of people hated Mirror Mirror, but I liked it a lot. IT is not as good as Stardust, but it made me laugh and it was pretty sweet.
One ring to bring them all, and in the darkness bind them.
I personally wouldn't put The Neverending Story in the same league as Stardust -but then again, I don't think anything comes really close to it.
I did like the first installment of The Neverending Story as a child, but it hasn't past the test of time for me.
Thanks for your suggestions. I will check Dark Crystal and Mirro Mirror. They were already in my Watchlist anyway.

"In the end, the world didn't really need a Superman. Just a brave one."
TNES is something that holds a lot of nostalgia especially if you grew up with it but if you're looking for something in the same caliber as Stardust, I recommend Peter Pan (2003). I like to watch Hook after & see it as a continuation of Peter Pan.
The Company of Wolves & The Princess Bride are also highly recommended.
I'm sure you've seen these but, the first Pirates of the Caribean was very good, as well as The Mummy.

-Ladyhawke
-Excalibur
-Dragonheart
-The 10th Kingdom

I remember The Storyteller Greek Myth collection pretty well from my childhood. I used to watch it every afternoon after school. It was fantastic. Of course, I never watched it in the original English -I'm from South America- it was dubbed and the name was "El Narrador de Cuentos". I'm gonna check out the first season. Hell, I might get both. Those greek myths will sure bring me back good memories.
shareUnfortunately the sequel has been holded but you should check out Mortal Instruments.
shareI'm sure many have mentioned it but The Princess Bride is a LOT like this movie in almost every category while still having a unique story. Definitely two movies in the same vein. Narration that is interwoven with the story itself. As the characters read the story the story unfolds.
I'd also recommend Second Hand Lions. Different genre (not fantasy) but has a similar sense of adventure and a great cast. Lots of fun action and meaningful messages about growing up and love and family. Hilarious movie. Also has a framed narrative where they break the forth wall a lot kind of like Stardust and Princess Bride with the narration.
Labyrinth is a good odd movie that is also fantasy and has a similar kind of adventurous and humorous tone. Great cast also. However, it's not a romance movie and is a bit more of a kids movie than the other mentioned movies.
Also, I'd include Enchanted in the list. Very funny fantasy movie with a great cast and a great romance plotline with good messages. This movie is fun also because it directly makes fun of the whole damsel in distress trope. It also openly pokes fun at all these kinds of stories in general. Good watch.
I think a lot of the finest fantasy movies have been covered but you should also check Strings. It's definitely different in tone but there is a poetry in the movie that's very reminiscent of Stardust. Plus they managed to make the old "coming of age quest" story feel fresh with a very unexpected and original twist on it.
