Bad Language in Movies
Doesn't anyone think that the MPAA should crack down on language in movies?

shareFREAK OUT PEOPLE!!! I just stated my opinion and that it bothers me. I can understand you disagreeing with me, most people do. But why can't you be civil about it? Honestly, you guys need to settle down and stop exploding on people for having different opinions...
shareYou're allowed to say what you want, as are we all. Profanity, along with sex, drugs, and violence all occur within a little realm I like to call reality. As the media are meant to be representations of reality, these things are bound to appear at least every now and again. The problem arises when audiences begin to be handed these things simply for their own sakes. When a filmmaker places character or plot driven profanity and violence in a film, that filmmaker is crafting a story for the audience and attempting to make it as believable as possible. However, when a 89-minute film has 75 minutes worth of violence and profanity just for the sake of violence and profanity, it becomes a cinema of attractions existing solely for shock value.
So, no, I don't think the FCC should crack down on foul language in films. But I'm not offended by foul language and gory violence. I'm offended by the idiotic garbage being churned out by the media on a daily basis. I'm also offended by the hoards of mindless Americans who will pay to see it. For example, #1 at the box office this past weekend was Disturbia, making $22.2 million. I'll bet there's a lot of profanity and violence in this film, judging by the trailer. However, what offends me is that I'm sure only a miniscule minority of the audience walked away saying, "That movie was much better when it was called Rear Window."
Hell no censorship sucks, hundreds of years ago the phrase "breast of chicken" was considered morbidly offensive.
"Someone who has critisized more movies to the pubic?," tcenters, Codename: The Cleaner boards.
I think censorship is stupid. If people are going to see what they wanna see, and hear what they wanna hear anyway, why ban it? Also, *beep* is just a word. Sure, it may be offensive to some people, but who even came up with the idea that it was offensive? It's a word, just like any other word I'm typing right now. Why should they ban these words? People hear them anyway. And I mean, they don't ban some "curse" words on TV like "piss" or "ass" or "bitch" but they ban others? I just say don't ban any at all.

No, censordhip is the stupidest concept since someone decied to judge that something was better than sliced bread. They don't need to censor films, that's why there is a rating system in place. what they need to do is get rid of NC-17 and make R Restricted to adult, no kids under any circumstances. That way they can legitimately say they are protecting children and the only way a child will see this film is if a law is broken. Censorship is not only stupid but it's offensive. It's some prude saying "you're not mature enough to see this film" which is down right stupid, they are condesending to us by saying this.
