I just watched all of Life on Mars and LOVED it. Is Ashes to Ashes any good? Is as good as Life on mars or almost as good?

While I thought the ending of LoM was pitch-perfect, what happens at the end of A2A will not only upset you greatly but it also mucks around a bit with Sam and Annie's story. It changes things enough that you may perhaps not like A2A as much, or you'll like it more. I think most people have a favorite and for the very specific way in which A2A wraps up the world of Gene Hunt.
I liked A2A, but I loved and still love LoM and can watch it over and over again. The friendship/antagonism between Sam and Gene and the chemistry between Sam and Annie is perfect.
Out of everything he's done, I think John Simm will be best remembered for his portrayal of Sam Tyler. It's an incredibly nuanced, very real performance and every time I re-watch the show I'm amazed by what he can convey with a simple glance. Brilliant work.
