Why was this Rasputia's catchphrase? The only other place I've heard it is on Friends, and it had context as to why/how it was used there.

No, the first person to say it is Wendy Williams. She has been using "How you doin'?" since her days in 90s radio.

alonzo9772 You made me look it up. Wendy Williams started using the "How you doin'?" about the same time as Joey in Friends. Do you think that's where he got got it from?
