This film deserves a higher rating

I can't believe this film only has a 3.6 rating. Granted it isn't the most original film ever but I think too many people on IMDB are rating this film on the basis that it is trying to be a cinematic classic. It's trying to be a light hearted immature humour film that you can and easily watch with your friends while having a few beers and for me it works really well at doing this. I gave it an 8.

I bet the people who dont like this movie is FAT as Hell If u take it offensively then loss some damn weight aint nobody fault that u FAT but u.You FAT *beep* Now take that offensively maybe it a help ur FAT ASS to loss some *beep* weight

reply

This has nothing to do with the person being overweight. I use overweight because I have more brain cells then you because you still use the word "FAT"... anyways, I found the film not offensive towards overweight people but just plain stupid. The acting is the same in everymovie that Murphy does. Now I'm not taking Murphy's acting skills away but I mean comeon, THERE'S NOTHING NEW IN THIS FILM. The makeup is the same used in Nutty Professor... The story line is old. It's sad because the actors in the film have done a lot better then they have in this film.

Can you go on? Even with the shortage of black actors in film? Amazing!

reply

I gave it a 5.

Now that was fair :)

TO ALL the nasty commenters....to each his own.

I know my brain cells and that of my family's are intact!

I thought It was funny. I took it for what it was, and I know a lot of people might be "offended" by the humor, but Eddie Murphy playing any offbeat character is funny, maybe I was in a mood, but I actually think my stomach hurt from laughing. Rick Bakers make-up was seemless....

"Carol Anne, go into the light"!

reply

Me too. It has it's bad parts and ok/funny parts.

I thought a 5 was fair.

i would happily give this filth a 0 if i could

This movie still cracks me up and I just gave it a 8 also.

I love Eddie but I gave it a 1 because I couldn't give it a -1. Loved Rasputia though. What's with him dressing like women so much?

reply

I thought it was pretty funny

reply

I am sorry people but I thought this movie was funny. It is not about brain cells people. What one person finds funny might not be that amusing to the next. I hate when people get on here and knock the next person for what they may or may not like. I respect those who don't care for it, but don't put people down like me that do. I wouldn't call it a movie masterpiece at all, but that is not what is supposed to be. People on here actually act as if they are real movie critics and their opinions are ohh so important. Just relax people its just a movie. And really at the end of the day I doubt that Eddie Murphy gives a rats @ss about what anyone thinks, cuzz he is steadily at the bank making that money people. Get over yourselves.

WOOOO-HAAAA!!! Got cha all in check!!!

Thank you, DAHKARI2003! For the haters of these movie that trash the people that like them and say they're stupid, it simply shows their arrogance and ignorance. I'm sure all these people think everything Ben Stiller and Will Ferrell do is cinematic genius, despite the fact they play almost the same character in each movie with the same actions. Like said earlier, Norbit was not a cinematic epic(and it wasn't supposed to be), but it was a movie which you could watch and make you laugh without overanalyzing it. It's supposed to be a dumb comedy and if you don't want to watch it, change the channel!

a movie to have a few beer with friends... psh. more like a movie to have a few zimas and Smirnoff ices. this movie is terrible. i gave it a one. if this movie was a person i would beat it like a red headed step child.

I disagree, I only came on imdb to see if this film was rated higher than I thought it would be; I have a broad taste in films and comedies are my favourite genre, but this film was the worst I've seen in a long long time. I thought 'The ex' was a pointless piece of crap but after seeing this I'm astonished.

I understand that people have different senses of humour, but like another guy said; the rating speaks for itself. I wasn't offended as I adore bad taste in films, but this film had none, it also had very few scenes that made me laugh.

In my opinion this film gets 3/10 for the the script (it could probably be worse), and 2/10 for acting (why does eddie murphy play so many roles when the man can no longer act?).

I found it a nice diverting comedy too. Better than I expected.

reply

Honestly, I found this the funniest film of the year.

Superbad - an overly profane bunch of crap (yes, I realize the irony), just... just... ugh

Knocked Up - not bad, but the drama was what made it good; the "funny" parts honestly weren't that funny

Epic Movie - please someone wipe any trace of this off the face of the Earth

Juno - How this deserved a single nomination is beyond me. No one talks like that! I was a geek, and no one ever talked like that. The writing was rather juvenile and it's almost insulting that it won for original screenplay over Michael Clayton.

Norbit - fresh, new, and, sadly enough, relatively clean. Fast-paced comedy that paints such a bizarre alternative world (pimps running a kissing booth at a local fair? a Chinese restaurant/orphanage? turkey ass?) and incredibly well-acted by Murphy.
"Of course! Wong very racist!"

reply

Fully Agreed !

Out of all those overrated sophomoric piles of junk trying to be funny I thought Norbit stands triumphant amongst the crap pile.

Solid 6.6 IMO

reply

it deserves a 6 or 7 in my opinion :)
