MAKE A SEQUEL!!!!!

Okay. Is it just me or should we start some kind of petition that begs for a sequel to this movie?

I would absolutely love to see a sequel. The game was totally amazing. Part two and three were my favorite. Plus, I've seen the gameplay of part four, and, for what I saw, I would add that on the list. Think about it: the movie would be bad a** if it had the Dahaka and the Empress of Time. Right? Oh snapp! I know I just sound like a crazy fan right now, but c'mon. You can't tell me you wouldn't go watch it if it came out.

It's been two years since the release of Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time. Don't you think it's time for Prince of Persia: Warrior Within? Eh? Nice ring, huh?

This movie was the highest grossing movie-originating-from-a-game at $335 million. I say we protest and we beg Disney (or whoever will buy the rights and make the movie) to spend some money (which the have PLENTY of) on the Prince of Persia sequel! Ohhh yeahhh! xD

This movie was the highest grossing movie-originating-from-a-game at $335 million.

On a budget of $200 million, I imagine that was a rather underwhelming result.

Regardless, they should make a sequel.
I never said they made the most profited movie ever.
That would definitely have driven them to make a sequel. Lol.
The world runs on money. The most profited movie as of yet is Avatar with a total profit of approximately $523,507,625, and already they're working on a part two.
Too bad it's not expected for another four years. I hope it's as good as the first one.
Anyway. I was just thinking out loud. I would like to see how another Price of Persia would do. :)

Regardless, they should make a sequel.

You can't say 'regardless' about the budget/profit, when that's the only thing the companies that make these movies have regard for.

I highly doubt any company/studio would invest another hundred million or so in a follow-up to a movie that didn't make very much more than its budget.

Warner Brothers are making a sequel to Green Lantern

Are they? The movie's Wikipedia page just says they are 'considering abandoning plans for a sequel'.

One other point of interest:

'The Hollywood Reporter stated that Green Lantern needed to make approximately $500 million to be considered financially solid.'

Prince of Persia was made for about the same budget, so in theory should've had about the same target. Of course it might not have actually been as high as $500 million, but even if that figure is reduced by a whole $150 million, the movie (having grossed $336 million) still fell short.

Yeah Green Lantern was pretty bad. I saw it last night, actually.

I mean, I'm not saying they'd make a lot of money. I just reeeaaally want to see how the Warrior Within would turn out as a movie. It was bloody lol so they'd DEFINITELY have to give the rights to another company. Disney probably wouldn't do a really bloody movie.

SOMEONE has to agree with me, right? I loved part two and three. If they end the movies with just the Sands of Time (which was very different from the game, but that's okay) then I'll just keep complaining.
Lol not that it will do anything, I just think it would be super cool.

I agree there definitely should be a sequel but sadly, the likelihood of it happening is pretty much zero.

I would also like a sequel, I really liked the movie. Also I liked the green lantern movie as well, it told his origin well, and he fit the role pretty good, part 2 will be better since they got all the origin and background, and world stuff out of the way. I know not everyone liked it, but there was still a good number of people who did.

There will never be a WW, since Jordan Mechner never liked that story. It was ubisoft's story and Mechner will probably be working on the new script as well, thus leaving out the WW themes. If a sequel ever happens, that is. (And I sure hope it does. I really liked the movie)

Though the movie made 336 mil in theaters, it sold quite nice on DVD, making an estimated total of 35 mil in the first 32 weeks. Since then many weeks have passed and who knows how much it might have sold since then. So at least PoP made 371 mil.

The Green Lantern had the same budget as PoP, 200 mil, and made 219 mil in theaters. On DVD sales they made an estimated 18 mil after 14 weeks.

In other words, if the Green Lantern is getting a sequel, PoP should definitly get a sequel. (Based on the numbers) I think all in all, PoP did do quite good. It's just too bad their budget was so high.

Which it almost certainly isn't.

PoP should definitly get a sequel.

Which it almost certainly won't.

I think all in all, PoP did do quite good. It's just too bad their budget was so high.

Had the budget been half or two thirds less of its size, I'm sure the movie's gross would've looked quite impressive.

But the makers were clearly aiming for a massive blockbuster, making well over $500 million. That didn't happen, and so the big budget largely neutered the money the movie did make.

Haha, you read between the lines!

And indeed, since they were aiming for PoP to be like PotC (which first movie made like five times it's budget) they didn't really got what they wanted.

Even though I enjoyed the movie a loooot, they should've seen it coming with it's shallow cheesy plot.

I am still hoping they are willing to try and make a sequel though, because the concept of altering time is really entertaining.

That makes so much since now. WW always felt wrong to me. Like I played it and thought "This is NOT a POP game". Glad to know why finally.

I hope they make a sequel (though they won't), because I really liked this movie.

What most people fail to realize is that while it is important for a movie to be profitable during its cinema run, being named a blockbuster or making 2x its budget in ticket sales, this doesn't even account for a good portion of a production's revenue. Tickets are only the tip of this particular iceberg, because this is one of the rare movies based on a game franchise that actually delivers, (think about it: Doom?, Super Mario?, Wing Commander?, Street Fighter? Mortal Kombat?, Silent Hill? Max Payne?, Alone in the Dark? NOPE-NADA-ZERO...none of these captured the essence of the game).

Video Games, movie rentals, dvd/bluray sales, toys books, music posters, etc.

In the words of Mel Brooks "Merchandising, merchandising, where the real money from the movie is made."

And not to Ayn Rand anyone's parade, but I count it a personal achievement to choose what I like irregardless of critics; a triumph of individualism which has made low budget and/or low gross movies (like The Crow, Spaceballs, The Evil Dead, Bladerunner, The Rocky Horror Picture Show, etc) into classics with a devoted following....which means they tend to make more money even a decade later...

Contrary to most calculations, this movie did actually turn out to be modestly profitable for the studios, in large part due to it's better than expected DVD sales (about 40 million in the US alone, since the movie did better theatrically overseas the global sales must've been impressive), television rights and other sources of revenue. The budget was abt 180 million for the production and incl marketing my guesstimate is that it never exceeded 250 million. Therefore a sequel is on order since the movie has acquired quite a fan base and would probably do better theatrically than the first one.

i support you 110%, the pop series is one of my favourite, i beat them 1 by 1, when the movie came out i was so hyped, i watched it in the theatre, at first i wasn't happy since disney was producing it, they focused too much on the visuals which is important but thats not what matters when making video games to a movie, the story of prince of persia is outstanding compared to the garbage these days, i cant believe clash of the titans got a sequal, it made around half a billion but honestly its the same old repetitive garbage. i bet it wouldnt make much at the box office.

this movie surely deserves a sequal, someother production should get a hold of it, it could be great if the dastan get a gory more darker look, we dont want no pg rated garbage, their is so much more to explore. as a fan i want to see a sequal

I agree completely. I think disney made the first one a little too child-friendly. I would enjoy seeing some darker more demonic characteristics if they ever made a sequel. I'm sure other fans would agree.

I wouldn't go out of my way to see Prince of Persia 2. Jake Gyllenhaal was about the only thing that really impressed me out of the movie (mainly because I don't really care for his acting yet I think he carried the movie well). It was a fun movie but nothing really made it stand out so that I really want a sequel.

A sequel would be so much better than the original, we need sand monsters though.. I preferred this to Pirates of the Carribean :/

Yeah sand monsters were absent in this movie, and that disappointed me a little. I think it's because disney decided to make it a child-friendly movie. If they ever do make a sequel, I'm hoping another production company picks it up and invites more of the fans into it. The games were awesome. So the movie should be just as awesome, or even more so.
