Most underrated episode?

For me, it's Mac and Dennis: Manhunters. I just rewatched it for the first time and it's low key a top 10 episode all time. I feel like it gets overshadowed by a lot of other episodes, so i'm curious to see which episodes other people feel this way about

reply

"The Gang Dines Out". Hilarious.

Fighting the frizzies, at 11.

reply

That's right up there for me too. I also love "The Gang Group Dates"

reply

Mac Fights Gay Marriage/Dennis gets divorced.

That whole segment with Dennis just randomly wanting to get married and the whole Maureen Ponderosa thing is hilarious! Definitely one of my favorites yet its rated on the lower wide.

reply

Bums: Making a Mess All Over the City is a hidden gem for sure.

reply

"Mac's Day". Maybe not underrated but no one seems to mention it.

reply

Mac Day also comes with one of the best guest spots the show has ever seen. Sean William Scott absolutely nails Country Mac. Unfortunate that he dies at the end so we wont get to have him come back.

those episodes really grew on me, this is when the show felt like it started taking another direction, not that it's a bad thing

"how's a fella go about gettin' a holt of the police?" -Karl

Who got Dee pregnant

Maybe not an all time top 10 type episode but when Mac is retelling what happened in the bathroom with Dee and Dee's character is an ostrich just screeching and Mac just converses with her like it's nothing. Made me laugh to the point of tears. These guys are geniuses.

Again not sure if this one is considered all time but The Gang Buys a Boat where Dennis is trying to explain "the implication" to Mac and he keeps saying it's very important Mac understands it.

Also Frank's back in business has a similar great scene with that Asian guy at the country club

reply

Lol Who Got Dee Pregnant and the Gang Buys a Boat are not underrated at all. They are both well known and widely loved.

reply

Yeah i wasn't sure so many good episodes I wasn't sure if they'd been mentioned. Not sure why but I hadn't been to this board before. I eat up the Dennis is a sociopath stuff and love the Dee ripping and those were just perfect scenes for me

reply

This was the first episode I ever saw and I was hooked!

When Mac is in the bathroom washing his hands and "Dee" comes in... and it's an ostrich! Omg!

This episode (along with so many others) are on rotation when I need a dose of Sunny. Never have I loved watching a bunch of low-lifes get what they deserve!

reply

Mac Day when Country Mack comes in. Look into it. "Whatever Science Bitch" - Country Mack

reply

It was hard for me to see which episodes are underrated, I don't know what fans think of most episodes with exceptions of a few. So I went by the IMDB ratings for each episode.

The Gang Exploits a Miracle: "I got the good lord going down on me"

The Gang Runs for Office: "Dennis Reynolds: Baby Rapist"

Frank Sets Sweet Dee on Fire: "Like people getting a$$ raped"

Mac and Dennis: Manhunters: "They drew first blooooddd"

Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life: (My favorite episode of all time, "Grab his shoe...beat his testicles")

The Great Recession: I piss myself laughing every time Frank tries to hang himself.

All of Season 7: Fat Mac is severely underrated.

I could go on and on, I love all the episodes of Seasons 1-7 and Seasons 8-10 are solid. Season 11 is the only season that sucked so far (with the exception of Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs).

reply

These are all great; but after just recently seeing Thundergun Express again, I loved Frank explaining prior episodes hi-jinx to the tourists after he stole the boat. Everything he told them was completely absurd- but I knew exactly what he was talking about. Originally thought the episode was not up to par, but it's funnier on repeated viewings

reply

You're the first the mention Erotic Life! It's one of my faves and happens to be my "go to" episode when introducing someone new the series.

The Dennis story is okay.... "Shut up, Rob Thomas!"
But Dee and Charlie walking in each other's shoes is almost unbearable!!!! The whole comedy club and cats at night scenes are brilliant!!! I always have to pause to laugh when Charlie is explaining the cat food+beer+glue combo to Dee, before he goes to sleep.
Mac and Frank's "Von Joni" cancer scam was just stupid compared to ANYthing Charlie says.

reply

Dee's retching during her act is one of the single greatest sounds ever to come out of a TV. One time I watched this episode twice back-to-back and rewound that scene to watch it again both times.

reply

"Well, at least it was short and dry this time."

LMAO

And the guy yelling "JESUS CHRIST." That scene is absolutely perfect.

reply

Dennis Reynolds: An Erotic Life: (My favorite episode of all time, "Grab his shoe...beat his testicles")

It's crazy how we fans of this show can be so far off with the episodes that absolutely crushed it. Dennis Reynolds : An Erotic Life is one of my least favorite episodes.

Season 11 is the only season that sucked so far (with the exception of Mac & Dennis Move to the Suburbs).

Ya know..I thought the exact same thing until I did a rewatch this week. There are some pretty incredible moments in those episodes the second time through. I really only disliked Being Frank and The Gang Goes To Hell Pt2.

reply

How the HELL can someone dislike the being frank episode. It was awesome.

reply

there are several episodes that i think deserve to be in the top episodes but the most criminally underrated is:

'The Gang Gets Trapped' - one of the funniest 20 minutes of TV i have every seen - everything Dennis does or say in this episode is hilarious - 'she just flushed the toilet' is one of the funniest things i've seen in IASIP and it is a crime that it's only an 8.7 - it's much better than the likes of Gas Crisis, Sunny Christmas, Mac & Charlie Die, Kitten Mittens, Charlie and Dee Find Love

Honourable mentions -

Underage Drinking
Gang goes Jihad
America's Next Top Paddy's Billboard Model Contest
Gang Buys A Boat
Mac And Charlie: White Trash
Maureen Ponderosa Wedding Massacre (i thought that episode would be a lot higher)
Gang Dines Out

All of these episodes are much better than Sunny Christmas at least

Don't get me wrong, i like Sunny Christmas but those episodes i listed are just much better

reply

I love Charlie's Mom Has Cancer, and The Anti-Social Network. Fantastic episodes. I love it when they start getting all worked up about the shusher. "Goddamn I hate gin. Dee, you bitch!" cracks me upppp.

The Gang Tries Desperately to Win an Award is also up there. Incredible episode.

reply

I COMPLETELY agree with Mac and Dennis: Manhunters. It is DEFINITELY in my top 10!

I think one of the most underrated is "Mac and Dennis Break Up". Not only does it not get the best ratings, but I never hear ANYONE mention it ever, but I think that episode is great. I love it and think it is one of the best of that season.

One of my favorite moments of it (0:15-0:22): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2C6wiE8nSFc&t=0m15s

I'M NOT ALLOWED!!!!

reply

What happens if I get caught?

Oh, don't get caught.
Don't get caught.

reply

ITA. When Dennis has a Mach 10 meltdown over Dee refusing to peel the skin off an apple for him, because 'Mac won't allow me to eat an apple with the skin on it! He won't allow it!' I seriously died.

Honestly, every episode where Mac and Dennis are unsettlingly codependent is funny to me. The Suburbs episode was kind of a sequel to the breakup episode for me.

reply

"Sweet Dee Has a Heart Attack" and "Charlie Work"

I love the entire subplot of Charlie and Mac sharing a minimum-wage position, and Charlie completely loses his mind in the mailroom.

Charlie Work is nothing short of a brilliant episode.

reply

I'd say 'The Gang Gets Extreme: Home Makeover Edition' - everything about that episode works for me. The midnight break-in, the constant misunderstandings, the fact that they ruin the house despite having good intentions. Never tire of seeing that episode.

reply

That's another great one. Ya know one of my favorite parts of this show is that while the gang is evil, a lot of the time, they actually have good intentions but are utterly oblivious to how poor their methods are
