sharePaperhouse (1988) - Anna is becoming lost in the loneliness of her own world when she discovers she can visit another, a house she has drawn herself and occupied by a young disabled boy. But as she discovers more of the links between her fantasy world and the mundane present, she is drawn only deeper into a dream turning into a nightmare
shareDid anyone recommend you Tarsem's other film The Cell? Also Kurosawa's Ran: saw this for the first time the other days and the visuals are stunning and the story is a mini-epic. Another stunning film (that may or may not be fantasy) is Amer. Plus Innocence - an unusual film experience ... :)
my vessel is magnificent and large and huge-ishshare
i saw the cell and loved it for its magnificence, but the best thing about the fall was how tarsem turned a simple story of a cute friendship and a child's imagination into work of art...i was stupid to ask for a similar film in the first place; there hasn't been one and won't be ever...
anyways, i love tarsem and am waiting desperately for mirror-mirror...
It's true that there is only one film The Fall but there are lots of magnificent films to marvel at the art but I don't know of another that makes manifest the child's imagination.
I also love Tarsem and I'm looking forward to Mirror Mirror.

You need to watch mirror mask.
sharePans Labyrinth
sharePan's Labyrinth. Big Fish is definitely similar. Stardust. Bridge to Terabithia. The neverending story.
There's so many similar movies, disregard what the person above said, they just don't know much movies.
I've seen all the movies you mentioned. The Neverending Story was the first before the other four, as i was born in 1979.
Pan's Lab I think was a little overdone in many aspects, felt like trying too hard but failed to get me connected...and Bridge to Terabithia kind of like made for tv movie with very mediocre dark children crisis-cum-fantasy, first viewing is enough.
However, Big Fish and Stardust were entertaining and well delivered.
Having similar concept, Big Fish was far better than The Fall in some parts, but overall The Fall wins by it's simplicity.
With you saying that the posters above haven't watch many movies, as far as I know, well logically, it's the ones who know many movies are more likely to find some good but unpopular films, and they sincerely liked it simply because it's something different in a good way, not just to feel their taste in movies are better than the majority.
sorry I didn't say posters, i said poster. I was talking about the above post that said something along the lines of no other movie like The Fall, it's one of a kind and special unique yada yada yada. I was sort of lazy at describing who exactly I was directing my post too, not everyone - there were some great suggestions.
shareWell, maybe I sound too defensive, but as a fan of movies, this film is indeed different from most that i've seen in my entire life, in comparison.
If I haven't watched much movies, I'll probably think this one is no different from most fantasy flicks that I actually haven't watched.
Have you seen Pan's Labyrinth?
shareI know this question wasn't directed at me, but I'll answer anyways! :) Yes I've seen it, but nothing compares to the Fall. We're talking about a movie that's been shot in 4 years in 28 different countries. It's a miracle come true. There can be nothing like it.
