The problem is, I don't think this movie is a western. I mean that in the best way.
Like all great films, it looks like it's a western, but it's not. It's just about people. Just like Once Upon a Time in America: it looks like a gangster flick, but it's not. It's about people.
It's hard to shoehorn movies like this into a genre since they defy genre.
