this deserves a lot more than it did...

I enjoyed this movie over Finding Nemo, Wall-E and Up. I'd say its on same par with The Incredibles, Ratatouille, and Surf's Up.

I am just curious why this movie didn't make it on to imdb 250 list????? I am loosing faith in imdb's 250 list....

reply

I'd be scared if this made it on the 250 list! Better than finding nemo? wall-e? I got nothing from this film, its just entertainment for children and its been done before.

reply

Well everyone's entitled to their own opinion. Although I must admit this was the first computer-animated film I rushed out to buy which surprises me cause I've never had that urge when it came to the Pixar films. The Pixar films are good but I've never developed a huge obsession with any of them like I did with Kung Fu Panda.

i do agree in some respects .. although the classic animations like Toy Story still have to be my favourite .. this is by far the best one in the past 10 years ( WALL.E was close to achieving my favourite though ) in my opinion this is definetly the top 5 of all animation films for me.

The pixar movies are great, but it's not something that I would obessed over. So I was pretty disapointed when Kung Fu Panda lost over to Wall-E for the oscars on best animated feature. They seem to be both in a tie to me last year as they were making a lot of money.

Wall-E fell flat towards the end, wasn't too happy with it as a whole.

I found it rather tired and boring to be honest - a plot we've seen before in a not so unfamiliar setting - i watched it and felt like I had seen it before a hundred times - I didn't feel like that watching Up or Finding Nemo or Wall-E. even if their stories aren't completely original, the way they were carried out, their settings and their characters were INCREDIBLE. I don't remember one line, not even one character, from Kung Fu Panda but I'll never forget Dory from Finding Nemo, Kevin from Up or Wall-E. I don 't particularly like the Dreamworks pictures but we're all entitled to our own opinions.

What about that Kung Fu Panda that was in it?

And yet, you found your way to the message board.

this movie is so trite and predictable and unoriginal. it had a few genuinely good lines and some fun scenes but it's kids fodder. no comparison at all to the pixar movies (at least wall-e, up & the incredibles), which had genuine emotion and heart.

7.7 is a fine rating. I would question if it was only pulling 5.5 to 6.5 stars.

I liked it as much as Incredibles, and liked it alot more than Ratatouille. But Wall-E might be just a smidgen above Incredibles and KFP or just a hair below them. Depends on the time of day. Finding Nemo is up there too.

Gotta agree with the OP on this one. FINALLY a cartoon gets the comedy AND animation done correctly.

I'd watch this over Wall-E or the abysmal Cars any day, no question...

7.7 is an extremely respectable rating by IMDb standards. Remember, there are less than 250 with 8.0 or up...

I agree that 7. 7 is an extremely respectable rating, considering the movie is mainly oriented towards children!

And I also think that Wall-E was the best animated movie of 2008, in comparison Kung Fu Panda is a bit shallow!!

That's just your opinion; I've always found Pixar movies to be emotionally engaging, and ALL of them have several really funny scenes and lines.

reply

yes but,
wall-e was dark over comedy (not unfunny, just deeper).
but kung fu panda(1&2) were both. especially the second one in respect to darkness.
although i agree,
wall-e was better

this is the best reply,

I think this is the best animated movie ever. Wall E is a very good movie due to his story this movie though never gets old watching because every scene is unique and funny. I have watched this movie hundreds of time and still laugh. Wall E I have watched it twice.

Also Hoodwinked is a good animated movie, still Panda is superior to me.

reply

old thread, but...

i'm not sure this is top 250, but wall-e and up were two movies i never much enjoyed.

reply

Considering that it became one of 2008:s biggest films, got nominated for a lot of awards, spawned a successful sequel, a second sequel in the making and spawned a successful and criticality praised TV-series, I think it got the attention OP wanted it to get.

reply

I'd say this is Dreamworks best film of the lot and comparable to some of Pixars movies. I don't think it's as good as Wall E I'd put it on Incredibles and Up's level though.

It's definitely better than Pixars last 3 films.
