Rewatched this tonight

On Blu-ray as the final part of my 'spaghetti quadrilogy' rewatch (Batman '89, Batman Returns, Man of Steel, The Flash).

Still a very solid 7.5/10 for me - and there are definitely parts that I rate higher. I know it was overhyped as 'the best CBM ever' etc, but I do not understand the vitriolic hate for this film. For Miller, I get it. But the dog-pile on the movie, I don't.

By the way, anyone else think Nam-Ek seemed bigger in this? He looked 10-12 feet tall at times. In MOS I thought he was around the 7-8 feet mark.

ETA Whilst the 'making of' extras are interesting, the total absence of deleted scenes feels like a real **** you to those of us who a) turned out to see, and b) bought this movie.

Movie discourse is like that. Some movies become whipping boys, cool to hate. Others get worshipped and revered for some unknown reason.

It often makes no sense at all. A lot of it is group think and the snowball effect. The Flash was hyped up then flopped at the box office, it became something to mock it with and developed a negative tone of failure surrounding the movie. People ran with it and that's that. The damage is done and the narrative is set.

I've never seen Morbius but I wouldn't be surprised if it isn't as bad as the internet would have you believe. That's one of those movies that the internet decided to get together and laugh at.

A good example is The Little Mermaid and Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning: Part 1. Both had similar budgets and similar world wide box office returns this year. The narrative is that TLM is a flop and disaster whilst no one says a peep about M:I. It's because people wanted TLM to flop due to the 'race swapping' of Ariel, whilst M:I is another Tom Cruise action flick which was quite well received.

Morbius is sort of fun but quite bad. but tbh no worse than ALOT of MCU (or DCEU)

Think The Flash became abit of a whipping boy bc of Ezra

This has some great parts and some not so good parts. Overall a worthy addition to the DCEU.

It jumps from dumb humor to very dark quite often. Audiences often have trouble with that (see Ranger, The Lone).
