That’s the big looming question which has been on everyone’s minds in the wake of Ezra Miller’s tabloid laden 2020-2022 in regards to Warner Bros. DC’s $200M The Flash, which isn’t looking good with a 3-day around $60M, off from the $70M-$75M the studio was expecting.

But there’s something else going on here with The Flash, billed by co-DC Boss James Gunn back in January as “probably one of the greatest superhero movies ever made,” and that’s that moviegoers disagree, giving it a B CinemaScore and 77% on Comscore/Screen Engine PostTrak exits with a 59% recommend. That buzz, coupled with the fact that The Flash is very male-heavy, and not pulling in as many women as Aquaman and Wonder Woman is slowing it down.

'The Flash is very male-heavy, and not pulling in as many women as Aquaman and Wonder Woman is slowing it down.'

Yes, not the first time I've heard this.

reply

The DCEU is over. They haven't had a genuine success since Aquaman.

reply

That's why they're rebooting.

All these remnants of the DCEU era, like Shazam 2, this, and the forthcoming Aquaman sequel, are deadweights that are dragging down WB/DC, when we all know that the reboot plans are already underway.

reply

No. No more reboots. Just stick to TV shows. Marvel won in the theaters. They need to accept this.

reply

I'm a DC fan, and I hate TV.

I also think the best DC films are far superior to the formulaic MCU franchise.

So, no thank you. DC belongs in the cinema!

reply

Yeah but they still had Flash and Aquaman 2 to release. They should have announce reboot plans after those would come out. Because what the point of watching dead franchise. And so Flash flopped so loud. And they lost money.

reply

Exactly.

No one is invested in this 'franchise', knowing that it's soon drawing to a close.

Back in the day, few films were guaranteed sequels/spin-offs, but that worked in a film's favour, because audience members could feel satisfied they were watching a complete film with a beginning, a middle and an end (and, if the film was a BIG success, potential sequels...)

But no-one's going to be enticed by a FLOP franchise that's soon set to be rebooted. Like you say, WB/DC should have kept their future plans underwraps, rather than torpedoing the last remnants of the DCEU.

reply

Screw em. Couldn't even be bothered to make a Batman movie. They're morons. Made their flagship character a support act. The whole circus was dead in the water before they even got started.

reply

Ha, ha, ha... The nolanites's curse still in full mode with these DC productions. From bad movies with good Box office (Aquaman) to crappy movies that flop.

Meanwhile at WB/DC headquarters: Damn, we put another flop on screen, what are we gonna do?
- DC executive: Don't worry, just prepare the next/umpteenth Batman iteration. Oh, and add to that another Batman Villain artsy film, that's a plan. It seems that nowadays, artsy films is what DC fans are looking into. No longer they desire action, adventure, romance, thrills... Artsy villains films, that's our salvation, oh and Batman of course...
