Is this movie appropriate for 8 and 9 year olds?

I read the parents' guide and there seems to be a lot of objectionable material. But maybe it's subtle and the actors speak fast, so kids won't notice things.

But if you've seen this movie, please let me know--is it appropriate to show in a 4th grade classroom?

Thanks! :)

There is sexual inuendo for sure, and the dancing can be risque. I wouldn't let my kids watch this. Keep your kids as innocent as long as possible in this world where sex is forced upon us everywhere we go. Geesh, you can't even go the grocery store without a women's magazine screaming obscenities at you.

Be kinder than necessary, for everyone you meet is fighting some kind of battle.

I was actually asking to show a classroom of kids for a class I taught. I don't have kids of my own, thank goodness. I don't have to worry about that crap--I only have to worry about showing a movie to OTHER people's kids and make sure it's appropriate.

I think that the sexual innuendo stuff goes above most of their heads!

I was brought up on Grease which also has a lot of sexual innuendo but as a child I never noticed it, never thought twice about what I was hearing. Children just don't pick up on those jokes. Grease didn't screw me up and it's the same with Hairspray.

If I ever have children I play on bringing them up on Grease and Hairspray from a younger age than 8 or 9.

Thanks! I think that Grease is far worse for children than Hairspray! In Grease, Rizzo and Kenickie are about to have sex and the condom breaks! She talks about skipping her period and other sexual stuff. Hairspray is pretty tame.

Yeah, all that stuff flew over my head as a child. Only when I watched it as a teenager I realized! When I was a child I thought skipping her period meant skipping her lesson

Yikes, that blog! Poor woman!
