Is LOST the greatest television series of all times?
Thoughts?
shareFor me it is, it ticked pretty much every box of what my perfect show would have. Great story, mysteries and twists, compelling and complicated characters, solid acting, powerful and emotional, beautiful soundtrack by Giacchino, some comic relief, I could go on. This is my perfect show. But I can understand why some people don;t like it.

ScorseseStan sums up my own thoughts perfectly. It just has everything I would want in a show. I knew I was watching something special the first moments of pilot episode.
I was Marzipan_Girl, LOST board 2004/5. LOST 10th Anniversary!
Imo, yes, Lost is the greatest TV series of all time, the fact that this show polarizes opinion strengthens my opinion, because I believe many people weren't intellectually and emotionally equipped for this series, the majority of people that don't like it, don't get it.
Lost wasn't perfect, but its highs were higher than any other show imo, and its flaws were less glaring than many seem to suggest, the "unanswered questions" legacy is a myth, and how people can say "it made no sense" is the real mystery.
No, not even close, but it's pretty good overall and frequently great. I think I have far less of a problem with "Lost is the best show ever" as a claim than "Lost tells the best story ever", which feels a lot more wrong to me. As far as network TV goes, it's one of the best. Possibly my personal favourite non-cable show.
shareI love LOST, yet I would have to say no.
The Simpsons is probably the greatest even if more than half of it now is forgettable. 10 seasons, give or take, of platinum amazingness can never vanish from The Simpsons.
Though LOST is def in my top 3-5.
Having said that, LOST's tv journey if you will can never ever be duplicated. Weekly network show featured ordinary ensemble in extraordinary circumstances + DVD home binge viewings/re-watches... added with its online footprint with fans...
LOST was, is, & always will be one of a kind.
Yes. And no. Faulty final season. But no other tv show will ever impact me on such a personal level. It is in my veins, it is part of me. Everything else is just tv.
I killed the crap out of him
I watched series 1-5 keenly, but towards the end of S.5, I was thinking that we were never going to get any answers, so I lost interest.
This week, I finally watched S.6 in one sitting, and wondered why I was such a fan.
So to answer your question, The Sopranos, always left me wanting more. All that Lost was able to achieve was to make me wonder what was really happening in a show where there was no reality.
