California wildfires
In mid August a rare thunder and lightening storm swept through California and ignited most of the giant wildfires still raging across the state.
Late at night in mid August, I woke up to flashes of light coming in the window. It was about 3 am. No sound of thunder, just a silent light storm. Over the next hour the full storm rolled in, wind gusts picked up, and the thunder started.
But the lightening was just like this movie. Flashes overlapping flashes. Forked lightening in the mountains.
Now living in the aftermath of that storm, fires killing people, destroying neighborhoods, forests, it reminds me of this film. Like this film was a metaphor for environmental disasters.
