Scarlett Johansson wanted to go topless in this movie during the scene with her and Lincoln first discovering sex. She locked herself in her trailer and refused to wear the black bra that Bay was making her wear. She said to Bay, "Im not wearing this filthy bra, who wears a bra when they sleep." Michael Bay kept arguing with Scarlett telling her that she had to wear the bra because the movie was pg-13. He forced her to wear the bra. I mean if a hot actress like that wants to go topless in a movie i don't think that anyone else in the country would have minded.
Why doesn't she go topless in other stuff, then? If she's so feisty about it, I wouldn't mind seeing her puppys, it would make a change to see a decent pair of tits on screen instead of these 12-year old boys like Milla Jovovich. Sorry, I know, I know, but I get pretty passionate about tits - I'm a man.
Lol, that really did make me laugh . Gotta love honesty and Scarlett Johansson the hottest woman on screen IMO . Would've loved to seen her topless. They should've made it rated R just for that reason alone. I can't believe I've never seen this movie till today on Cinemax, awesome flick ?
Oh Bullpucky! Name a few. In fact name even one recent one actor or actress whose career has faltered due to a nude scene, nip slip or "leaked" sex tape. And don't tell me about Disney - the, er, exposed, parties there have all used that to spring board into more mature roles.
It seems like they had it planned that way, doesn't it?
Actresses like Marilyn Monroe, Angelina Jolie, Faye Dunaway and even Julie Andrews have dropped blou and got massive boosts of publicity (not to mention ego). I don't think there has been a true case of nudity ruining someone's career since World War II. We now have several highly paid celebrities (I balk at calling them actresses) who got their start in professional or amateur xxx theatrics. So please, don't try to tell me that showing a boob, butt or whatever yer mammy gave ya is a one way ticket to palookaville.

True enough. Would that I could be such a has been, rolling in the money, appearing on all the tabloids and talk shows and getting multimillion dollar endorsement deals, all stemming from their dubious oral/genital/anal/videography skills.
Without making a big deal of it, lacking her seedy juvenile beginnings, we all now would be saying "Traci who?"

The German actress that plays Tyrion's "love interest", Shae on Game of Thrones. I think that she won the German equivalent of an Oscar after doing raw anal porn.
If her wiki is anything to go by, her porno appearances didn't actually help jumpstart her career at all. It was a scandal that broke out and people didn't even know about it, yet she still won awards.
It could be God, the Devil, Buddha, an Alien...or it could be a kid playing a video game. - onn1320
I didn't say that it "jump started" her career. Rather, I merely used her as an example of someone fairly recent (i.e. not MM; Stallone; Madonna; etc.) whose acting career (not to be confused w/ the celebrity careers of Kardashian; Hilton; etc.) hadn't seemed to suffer. Cheers.
Well yeah, there are many many actresses that haven't suffered from that.
My point was that it usually can't jump start a career out of nothing. The only person I know who did that was K.K. who was barely known before the sex tape.

A little late to this thread - stopped by to see what IMDB had to say about this movie after watching it again on TNT last night. The first name that came to mind after reading this comment was Elizabeth Berkley. Has she done much since Showgirls? (Although that probably had a bit to do with the quality of the movie not just the nudity....)
I do recall one comment from the reviews back when Showgirls came out - someone said that Verhoeven and Eszterhas ended up with a movie that did the unthinkable - made nudity boring....
If they had bothered to film it both ways (& they should've), the other version should've been UN-rated. --- IF I want your opinion, I'll GIVE it to you.
Bay seems to get a lot of hate regardless of what he does, it seems his haters are always looking for new excuses to hate him. If he did allow a topless scene in this movie, I'm sure the haters would (as they almost always do whenever he his movies feature attractive women to any extent) call him out for being "sexist".

Their characters had an innocence about them. So different from the cruel humans that put them there. They were just discovering sex and the scene needed to be handled sensitively.
