Why this movie isn't believable....

I get your point, but think about this: No matter how hot a person is, SOMEONE is sick of them. Brad Pitt is supposed to be one of the hottest dudes on the planet (uh, I've never seen that), but Jennifer herself got sick of him. Heather Locklear is (or at least, was) another super-hottie, but ol' Richie Sambora got sick of her. More recently, Jessica Simpson is a woman who I'd crawl through three miles of broken glass for, just to smell one of her, uh -- armpits -- and Nick Lachey got sick of her!

The affair was not at all about she being hotter than his wife. The couple was clearly dealing with a lot of stress from work so their sex life was probably down a notch. By being so focused on saving his daughter, he was missing out on the passion of their marriage. And an affaire is all about passion. Forbidden fruits are always more tempting. Jeniffer isn't all that ugly by the way.

Because relative 'hotness' will forever remain in the eye of the beholder, George and Anniston, must be seen as representing two alternative choices in Owen's life.

George is all about the responsibilities and almost hopeless future Owen faces as the parent of a chronically-ill child.

Anniston is 'what-might-have-been' if Owen had a second chance to choose.

...can't believe you people think looks determine the passion and satisfaction of the sexual experience.

There are plenty of real life examples of people cheating with someone not half as hot as the person they are with eg. Jude Law cheating on Sienna Miller with Daisy Wright. Cheating isn't necessarily about being sick of the relationship your in sometimes people cheat for no other reason than because they get the opportunity and think they aren't going to get caught though in Derailed I think his wife and him had grown apart.

Michael Douglas didn't leave Anne Archer for Glenn Close in Fatal Attraction he just used Glenn Close for sex while his wife wasn't around.

What planet have you been living on? Not everything is about looks you know....someone could have the hottest husband/wife at home but they just aren't happy at all and so they cheat. You see it all the time with celebs.
