Just not believable

This would have bin a good story if it had bin done with adults instead of high school kids, they just don't act this way. And how can sum 17 or 18 year old run like a drug cartel. Like sum punk kid could do that without the big boys catching wind of it and is still alive. It's pure fantasy I mean these kids are just walking freely around the school were the hell are all the adults. Ridiculous

Pipe down junior, the adults are talking now.

The first time I watched this, I was put off by the high school setting. It might have been more "believable" set at a community college, but then again it isn't a realistic reflection of life and neither is it meant to be.

Its a unique and imaginative movie that transcends reality. The second time I watched it, this was easier to accept.

High school students don't act like this, no. But name me a mainstream movie where high school students act like high school students. The dialogue, directing, and acting here are all well done enough that I can see past that. Besides, does anyone act like this?

Films should be allowed to take us to another world. This did.

If you can't accept the premise of the movie, of course you won't like it. And that is fine, but to deny that this movie wasn't well done? I can't imagine anyone who does that even watched the movie.

Plus, Joseph Gordon Levitt. Enough I said.

this is the kind of thing that goes on in high schools whether you believe it or not. and who's to say that the pin isn't working for a larger drug cartel/supplier that needs a guy like him to get into schools.

I agree with the OP. There is a difference between "believability" and "realistic". Now I enjoy many a movie that veers on the unrealistic side and while this movie certainly had a clever and (almost) original story, at almost every turn I rolled my eyes because I remembered they were just high school students. It was still a good movie though.

I see no diffence between high school teens and adults
Whatever 40 year old clerk or dentist or software developed woould have never acted in that way either. People in real life have no idea how to handle such situation and would be scared to death.

So stop claiming this is not believable because they're kids because even with adults it would have been less credible because adults in real life are not different than teens, they're not genius or super-heros and they would be clueless as any high school students in those situations.

Not even James Bond is believable but movies need disbelief suspension to be enjoyed. Stop underestimating teens and overestimating adults because I see no difference between the two, except adults are immature more often than teens.

You missed the point. The movie is set up very similar to Noire movies from the 40s such as camera angles, conversation, dialogue, acting, and even the plot. It is basically Noire with teenagers so not everything is going to make sense. Some of the people however such as the Pin were already out of school and he was 28 or so.

Seriously? Is OP for real? That was the point of the movie. It was a noir film in a high school setting, as it brings added novelty and is an interesting twist on the genre.

Just saw this movie, and i loved it. The whole murder mystery noir thing set in a high school setting seemed a little weird at first, but it grew on me, it might not be believable and it's not supposed to be. The story is not bad but it's the setting and acting that makes this movie great. The setting gives us some awesome scenes, like the conversation with the assistant VP (No more of these informal chats! If you have a disciplinary issue with me, write me up or suspend me and I'll see you at the parent conference), or The Pin's mom, making cereal and juice right after the guys were acting like hardcore gangsters in the previous scene, the thing that makes it even better is that it was all done in a completely serious tone. It's the setting that really makes it stand out and it wouldn't be half as good in a different settings and adult actors.
