anyone think this movie's rating here is just too low?

omg, this movie was good! in fact, too good. i really think its much better than saving private ryan. the acting was powerful and spectacular. who cares if there was too much melee or hand to hand combat. all that matters is that it suceeds as a movie. and here it was over the top sucess. the rating should be higher than saving private ryan. unfortunately, because its not an american movie, i guess that's supposed to mean the movie isn't very good or only for an obscure audience.

to sum it, this was the best war movie ever. it's rating should like 9.5.

I, i agree, if the dark knight can get 9.0, how on earth can this film only be on 8.1??

As long as its higher than Saving Private Ryan, I'm content... hell, as long as it's on the Top 250, I'll be giddy.

Its not just Americans that are like that. Australia's idea of the outside world is New Zealand. As far as they care, no other countries have the technology to make movies.

I agree. This belongs in the Top 250. I haven't gotten my arse to see Private Ryan so I can't say if this was better. But I love this movie regardless.

EDIT: Got around to seeing SPR. I honestly think BoW is better because it doesn't have that patriotic bravado that SPR did. BoW showed war for what it was. SPR had that "Amerika am de best" feel to it.

i think saving private ryan was a better film but this was certainly one of the best i've ever seen in its genre... i think 8.5 would be fair but 8.1, considering its subtitled, is still pretty damn good!

It was a good film, but not great. Saving Private Ryan to me was much better in terms of various elements - intensity level, camera, dialogues, acting, (not to discredit Jang Dong Gun's amazing performance)... This is just my opinion.

Just an FYI - I am a first generation Korean.

I agree, this is truly my favourite film ever, I was so blown away by it the first time I saw it and it never gets old. The acting, script, action, romance and ever aspect of the movie is made perfect right down to the last section. I rated it 10 which I know is way too much for any movie but it's the only film I would back as far as that. I haven't ever seen such a brilliant war movie since this. RATE HIGHER PEOPLE!

8 is about right and this while good is nowhere Saving Private Ryan

This is better than SPR, the ending of SPR was just a let down. The plots are somewhat similar, but this movie was so much more emotional in my opinion, it was about an older brother who would do anything and satisfied himself to save his younger brother, not just a small squad who had nothing to do with a private, but still risking all their lives through many dangerous zones to save him anyway. That's why I think this movie should be rated higher than SPR and at the top of the 250 list.
