UNBELIEVEABLE.... its so overrated! *spoilers*

WARNING: SPOILERS incoming!!!!

I just watched the Film and im totally disopointed!

How can this movie get such a high rating? It's so full of cheesy stuff and it's not a bit realistic. I would not even give it a 6.0.

It's just horrible in my opinion. A superhero, who is obviously invisible for bullets, kill a whole army of northern korean soldiers. Even he gets some kind of a racist and kill an old friend. And than... suddenly he change the sides and fight for north korea. And of course he is welcome in there, althogh he got a medal for killing tons of northern koreans. But in the end he is just a kind and friendly man who cleaned shoes. And he did it always for his little brother...

I mean,... cmon!...

It's as bad as "Windtalkers"...

I just dont understand why you all love this one so much.

If you want to see a good war movie, than watch "Platoon", "Appocalypse now" or "Full Metal Jacket"...

I agree.....this movie is definitely overrated. It seems like the director didn't even cut any extra scenes out, so it became way too long. And at least have a STEADY camera. I don't think it was the actors, just the direction was beyond HORRIBLE. It could have been much better if it wasn't displayed in such a cliche fashion and was more sophisticated (music, camera angles, ETC). It's a war drama movie, not an asian soap!

And this is coming from a girl who loves wonbin. THIS MOVIE IS BAD. I'm sorry, it is.

And to reply to the koreans vs. american viewpoint--my korean friends hated this movie just as much as I did. boys girls, koreans americans, etc.

I find it amazing that you hated this movie and yet somehow all the "war" movies you mentioned are liberal war movies showing the evil of war. Guess what, some war movies are made to give people a scense of pride for their country. Others are made to show the heroics of military men and women. Perhaps your own political bias has effected your ability to enjoy this movie.

Yes, we need more movies showing how war is really a good thing, and really cool and totally awesome, too.

You can show heroics of men and women in war without glorifying the war. Saving Private Ryan. Band Of Brothers. Patton.

I think it's one of the best movies ever made, and i've seen a lot.

I agree there are a couple of corny moments, but it's an emotional rollercoaster and from a small budget, it does a pretty good job.

The acting is sublime, as well as the story progression.

I'm shocked a movie as good as this is on 8.1. I thought it was brilliant.

This was an exercise in pure jingoism.

Good film, but will people stfu about it being the best war evaaaaarrrrrrrrrr11111!!!

It barely has a coherent plot and the emotions are rammed down your throat.

I did like alot of the background historical contexts though, like the anti communist league thugs that went around beating people up for only wanting to eat.

I recognize every complaint about the movie people have but none of them seemed to bother me at all when I watched it.

I remember watching this film and being dissappointed with the soundtrack. For me, music is a big part of film and really shapes the overall perception, and in this case I ended up not really liking the film as it felt sort of soap operish or something. I usually don't like music in battle scenes as it tends to lessen the horrors of war, but a few movies come to mind where i think it makes the scenes stronger. Come and See, Killing Fields, and Full metal jacket all use that creepy aural sound.

That war was built on alot of propaganda, and a war hero from the south korean side coming to the north koreans would look great for them and it would give their people something to smile about, because it makes them think their side is superior.

the truth is we can't all be stars, but I'll be god damned if I'll settle for bronze....

Just watched it for the first time. I thought it was quite good, the battle sequences were nicely done, but the melodrama brought it down slightly imo. I still gave it a 6/10, but I wouldn't call it overrated. I'd still recommend it to anyone who wants to see a war film with really nice battle scenes.

And I have to say, Korean Cinema has had a really good decade, I hope it continues :)

The music was horrendous, amongst other things that made this film an unbearable sugar coated melodrama

Shindler's Crap is over rated.

"Stalingrad. . . The fall of Stalingrad was the end of Europe. There's been a cataclysm."

It was fairly common for people to defect from their military to join the opposing side. Why? This was an epidemic that started because the South Korean military started slaughtering their own civilians who they "suspected" was conspiring with the opposing regime.

I agree, the superhero part at the end was a little melodramatic but most films, even Saving Private Ryan does the same. Also, North Koreans were known to charge in at the enemy just like Banzai squads from the Japanese Empire and we know how many Japanese John Basilone killed. SUperhero BS myth or real story?
