No other movie has got me as bad as this. And it's not just one, but three or four scenes. That doesn't count when you're thinking about it afterward either. I'm a grown man, and I was a sobbing mess after watching this! I'd be okay, then I'd think about the movie again and the tears came flooding back. Luckily I was alone at the time!
Anyone who's seen it will remember the bottled water scene, the subway serenade scene, the interrogation scene and the tree scene - those were the ones that really got me.
This is definitely one of my 'Top 10' films and, coincidentally, it's another Korean one. That said, it's hard to recommend; you're lucky if, like me, you get to see it with no prior knowledge of the plot, but it's also hard to watch in that manner. Either way, if you get the chance, any chance at all, watch it and remember you have to stick with it through to the end! The most beautiful, heart-wrenching film experience I think I will ever have.
Other than that there was some I saw when I was younger - Transformers: The Movie (1986) (I'm with you g217009t), Watership Down (1978), and My Girl (1991).
Funnily enough, the only other two things I can think of that welled me up as an adult were two kids cartoon series': Dragonball Z and Naruto! Dragonball Z: When Gotan was crying and screaming at Vegeta because he knocked-out his son, Trunks, so that he wouldn't try to stop Vegeta from sacrificing himself in a last-ditch effort to defeat Buu. Naruto: When, during a tournament, Neji Hyuuga starts using his family's deadly style on his innocent cousin Hinata. Here I think it has a lot to do with the amount of time invested by the viewer in getting to know the characters by that point, but they were still definitely some harrowing scenes.
...And I lie, there was another: Babel (2006). Right at the end, when the Japanese girl breaks down naked in her father's arms. Another brilliant and highly recommended film, by the way.
Don't worry, I'll shut-up now!
