Am I wrong? Kline should have been Jacques Clouseau and Martin - Dreyfus. I loved Kline in A Fish Called Wanda and when I had heard he had an attachment to the project I thought he was going to be Clouseau. The movie was ok, but Martin would have made a great Dreyfus(winking).

This kind of wishful thinking is like thinking of Jim Carrey as Closeau. Sure, it would be better than anything in this movie, but it wouldn't be as good as Peter was. In the end, it'd be pretty difficult to replace Peter, but if someone could do DEADPAN humor like Peter's Closeau managed to do, perhaps Leslie Nielsen would've been a good match.
