The best performances not nominated for Oscars.

I started this thread on the board for A Clockwork Orange. I think that Malcolm McDowell is possibly the biggest Oscar nomination snub of all time. Ben Foster in 3:10 to Yuma also came to mind. What are some other performances people think were robbed of a nomination?

If you eat a peanut butter sandwich and can still speak coherently, you've done something wrong.

Nope this movie was just a decent flick. did not deserve Oscar. i was surprised to learn it was even nominated in Oscar in any categories.

Um, Anthony Perkins for a certain PSYCHOtic role, maybe?

Kaneda... what can you see?

Michael Biehn for Abyss - no one does slow regression into psychotic paranoia like that & the 'tache deserved an oscar on its own. ;)

Perhaps not the biggest snub but Christian Bale for "The Machinist" is one of the one that come to mind...

sorry, but I think he was wrong for the part- his face too rounded, his voice just a tad too high in pitch. peter fonda as he was in his role in 310 would've snarled a better portrayal of wade than crowe did.

Tom Hardy in Bronson

Did someone here really say Ben Affleck for Pearl harbor?
Anyway, this year also had some great performances not nominated.

- Tilda Swinton: We need to talk about Kevin
- Fassbender: Shame
- Ryan Gosling: Drive, Crazy stupid love, The ides of March

Mickey Rourke - 'The Wrestler'

He was nominated- he just didn't win.

My vote goes to Cillian Murphy for Batman Begins.

Mel Gibson - Braveheart, not even a nomination
Christian Bale - never got an Oscar nomination (3.10.., Batman ..., The Prestige)
Tom Cruise - Valkyrie (i dont really appreciate his acting as much, but that performance deserved a nomination)
