Do you think this is the best western after Unforginen, as some critics said?

Sorry, but the best western will always be "The wild bunch"
No question

And no dream is ever... just a dream...

reply

No, it was not even close to being a good western. It was AWFUL. I watched it, but I was miserable throughout the whole thing.

Dude... if you have not seen Deadwood and are a fan of old westerns.. you gotta go buy Deadwood asap, it is simply amazing.

Must buy for any western fan imo. Think I have watched it about 20 times total so far haha.

It's really just a question of which is better; Open range, 3:10 to Yuma or the assassination of Jesse James by the coward Robert Ford?

Whichever is left standing is the best western since Unforgiven.

No way. Ture Grit was a let down for me. Great but I thought it would be awesome The Bros are my favorite movie makers. Any Tombstone is the best. This movie is amazing thought, I love the ending.

reply

I reckon 3:10 is the best western since Unforgiven. None of the others I've seen can match it. I haven't seen True Grit yet so I can't judge that one.

Without "Once upon a time in West", your list is incomplete. If you haven't watched it, watch it soon.

No.

Let slip the Determined Kitten of Doom!

True Grit 2010 easily surpasses 3.10 To Yuma, which itself is poorer than the original film.

It's like comparing Apocalypse Now! with The Green Berets; one is film about everything, set in a war. The other is just a war film.

And the remade 3.10 to Yuma was basically just a western.

reply

You're right, The Green Berets is so much better than Apocalypse Now they oughtn't be compared.

The Proposition is a western.

Is Lonely Are The Brave? If so, then it's one of the best.
