any similar movies?

are there any similar movies to this? maybe the ones that don't have a storyline?

I cant help but smile when I wonder how Jarmusch pitched this idea to the production companys.

I felt that the mood of the film was kind of remenicant of "Waking Life" and "Slacker" by Linklater. You should see them if you haven't already.

^^^^I was going to suggest those 2 movies as well! ^^^^^^

Waking Life & Slacker are both really good movies. I always hope that from time to time, someone will make another movie like those...Waking Life is somewhat slow-paced, but you stay glued to it via the dialogue the whole time. The animation effect is very humorous at times.

I can't understand your crazy moon language.

You mentioned 2 Richard Linklater films...you should definitely see Before Sunrise and Before Sunset. Both are written very well.

I haven't actually seen the Coffee and Cigarettes movies, but I can see they are dialogue driven films. You might want to check out Smoke, blue in the face, Mystery Train and The Big Kahuna (1999). Jim Jarmusch is in blue in the face actually.

All these have great dialogue. Quentin Tarantino films also have some fantastic dialogue too.

Give "Paris, je t'aime" a try. 17 vignettes, all by different directors, all set in a different district of Paris. Only thing that ties them together is the directors' personal interpretations of "love".

If I had choice of weapons with you, sir, I'd choose grammar.

Of all Jarmusch's movies, I'd say that Stranger Than Paradise is most like this one. Especially in mood.

Night On Earth has five unrelated episodes, though otherwise I didn't feel as much of a connection.

There's a 1993 film called "Thirty Two Short Films About Glenn Gould" which is a serious of vignettes. But I haven't seen it.

"Before It Had a Name" aka "The Black Widow" reminded me a lot of this. It's not a comedy; it's a slow, heavy drama with no straightforward plot. But the long, cold scenes, the awkwardness of characters, and especially an appearance by Issach de Bankole (segment "No Problem") made me think of Jarmusch. It starred Willem Dafoe & his wife and was directed by her. IMDb hates it (rates it a 3.3!) but I thought it was pretty cool, and Jarmusch fans might get a lot out of it.

also try youtube'ing Cigarettes and Coffee by paul thomas anderson. it was a short film made in 93. Only similar in that it has both cigarettes and coffee and takes place at a coffee shop.
