Favorite sympathetic murderers

In Cold Case, we've seen lists of people's favorite complete monsters and favorite cases about subhumans with zero redeeming qualities of any kind. And so I was wondering about going the other direction entirely.

As in, what would be the episodes being most notable for having a murderer who actually is a genuinely good and decent person in general and makes honest efforts to do the right things but becomes a murderer because they made a grave mistake when placed between a giant rock and a super hard place, so to speak ? The murderers who simply snapped or made a serious mistake when placed in excruciating circumstances and whom your heart truly went out for and could sympathize and empathize with the most despite their having done something that was truly and completely wrong ? And you ended up think "this was not right at all, but I could actually completely understand it". 2 examples for me would be Rosie Miles in Fly Away - sympathetic to the point the DA's wouldnt actually press charges- and Ginny Williams in Blackout - I didnt even like seeing her get arrested.

I agree with Dom (Boy Crazy) and Nathan (Wishing) for reasons already mentioned. I don't count Art (A Perfect Day) because it wasn't the murder that was being investigated.

Would Boris (Detention) be considered a murderer? It was an accident but he was still the one responsible. I liked him and felt sorry for him. True, he should have told the truth right away but I think that makes him a multi-faceted character rather than bad.

Were Cy and Caroline from The River and Blackout? I haven't seen those episodes yet. I agree that Rose was sympathetic but I didn't consider her a doer. I would consider her brother the killer over her. I guess I can see what you mean though.

I checked and Caroline is from The Good Death. I haven't seen that episode either.

I agree about cy and i had already said i'm surprised about how too few people mention him and instead mention other murderers (ex the boy in time to crime or jonesy in the letter) that i consider less sympathetic..

He never made another attempt on Rodney's life after that
ah he should have tried a second time? ahahah!!

Don't forget Darnell was only a kid when he tried to kill Rodney
that's the point..had he only been 16-17, i'm sure you'd be less compassionate on him..he was only a kid? yes, but as his sister says he was intelligent, so he should have understood that that wasn't the good way to deal with the problem, before shooting..and also thought he couls have hit someone else

he only wanted Rodney dead
ok, so let's justify all the people who shoot on someone because therir wife-mother etc has an affair with him..

For me, i'd have slapped all the squad..jeffries saying rodney "what happened is your fault" are u serious? if someone shoots some other people in a premeditated way is only HIS fault..

The episode Justice is an easy choice. When the victim in this case- an accused rapist- does a complete 180 after being confronted by his accusers to justifying his actions to the kid brother of one of those accusers. It's no surprise to me that the sound to the interrogation room gets turned off as Rush, Valens, and the older sister Tessa talk her brother/lawyer into saying that he was threatened.

Are we beginning to see the possibilities here?

If the boy in Justice didn't do what he did, there may have been at least one more woman who would have been a victim of Mr. Goldenboy college student. IMHO, the victim showed his true colors after the confrontation by his alleged victims. It's true that the most we know from what was shown, was that Mike asked for the gun from Timmy. I would have done the same thing if I were one of those detectives.

It's an easy choice for me, as this isn't shown on TV much. And there's the whole DVD issue.

I forgot about Anton from Committed! I felt so bad for him because he was caught in such a bad situation.

I was watching the end of Wishing again and I noticed that Scotty really didn't seem to want to arrest Nathan which is unusual for him.

If she even counts as a "murderer", Rose in Best Friends is probably at the top of my list -- not only was the victim on board with it but it's clear that Rose really wanted to die with her and felt guilty for years afterwards just for living.

i've just seen the episode again i don't find her so sympathetic..she knew she wouldn't be charged cause it wasn't a murder, she could have confessed the first time they talked to her instead of making them lose time..

i'm sorry, but i find kitty from schadenfreude as a sympathetic murderer..she acted as a friend when lindsay was in a bad mood, but lindsay was going to let her down..
