Great movie in the Indiana Jones Pentalogy
Indiana Jones is one of my favorite action adventure characters. It reminds me a lot of Tintin and the feel of it is similar - a bit cartoony and over the top but also serious and just an engaging read and movie.
Raiders of the Lost Ark was amazing as was Temple of Doom (haha, chilled monkey brains made me chuckle) along with Last Crusade. The ride into the sunset was epic but I wanted more.
Enter Kingdom of the Crystal Skull. It keeps that same lore and magic for me with the silliness thrown in with the nuke fridge scene and jungle scene but also the elements of thrill and adventure with the skull and pyramids like Raiders of the Lost Ark. The villain played by Cate Blanchett was amazing and she just slips into every role so well. Aussie actors like Hugo Weaving and actresses like her are just amazing imo. So skilled in their art.
I was happy to see Marion Ravenwood and Shia Labeuf was good imo. Honestly, this movie had it all like Raiders or Doom or Crusade - from the action to the intriguing plot and the supernatural with the aliens from interdimension - "space between spaces" to convey they're actually from another dimension.
Harrison Ford still looks the part and no one wears a Fedora as Indiana better than him. Shia almost tried but they took it away at the end. Karen Allen did a great job as did Cate Blanchett and Oxley - loved him in V For Vendetta as well and his epic role as S.R.Hadden in Contact.
Overall, I loved this movie and showed it to my young teen kid today who loved it too. He said he loved all 4 movies now and he is looking forward to watching Dial Of Destiny as well next.
I have watched it and I thought that was great too.
I know some people love to hate on things (the reddit mentality of hypocrisy - advocate free speech and tolerance and yet be intolerant and hateful and ban people for exercising free speech) but honestly, it's their loss. I liked these movies and the Indiana Jones Pentalogy is in my top 10 all time.
