it just does. This type of story is almost non-existent in western society.
Is this because Eastern countries are still very pre-dominantly asian, whilst Western countries have become more mixed? I think it is, if everyone looks the same I suppose incest could become easier... kinda sick to say but there ya go

out of all those, the only ones I've heard of are:
Blades of Glory (which I haven't seen)
Borat - which, as far as I'm concerned, is basically a Khazakstani film so either no-score draw, or even could be argued as asia
and
Girl, Interrupted - which, as chance turns, I have seen and remember, it involved incest plot between a father and daughter. Perhaps I should have been more clear, I was talking about incest between brother and sister. No doubt incest between father and daughter could even be more common in american films, another one that comes to mind (which for some reason is not in the list) is Forest Gump.
I saw ''Spanking the Monkey'' when it first came out. It blew me away. Much much more gross and graphic- and ultimately tragic- than ''Oldboy''. And ''Flowers in the Attic''- oh my god, that was huge!!! Virgina Andrews was a twisted bitch when it came to incest, lol, ALL of her books contained incest!! So it's found everywhere, all over the world, not just Asian cinema. You just have to look. Great list BTW
about 45% of marriages in the Muslim world are consanguineous (incestuous). On average, children from a consanguineous marriages have an IQ close to 10 points lower than children born from parents that are unrelated. Probably how Islam turned the cradle of civilization into a bunch of cabbage heads running around. That and Sharia Law basically calls for the death of anyone that questions Islam, which likely includes the few high IQ free thinkers that escaped the curse of incest.
Lol how racist! Just because Asians decide to incorporate incestual elements in movies doesn't mean that incest doesn't happen just as much outside of Asia. They just don't make movies about it.
"It's a doll, jensen" "Doesn't mean it can't be loved"
I can't believe this idiot got 2 pages of responses. I hope he is a troll, and not a genuine idiot. Haven't you heard of Cruel Intentions, Gladiator, the dreamers.
There that's 3 western films to 2, so Sibling incest MUST be more commonplace in Western society, obviously.
wait-a-second, Cruel Intentions they weren't biological siblings were they?
Gladiator - you have me there, also Game of Thrones, it seems these fantastical settings it seems more prevalent. That can kinda go back to what I was saying about ppl all looking the same thou...
Third one I haven't seen. But yeh I suppose there is an argument against me.
I guess I offended with this, I didn't mean to.
edit: HOWEVER, I've kinda stumbled across ANOTHER asian example. It's not full incest but cousins (which I know is alot less gross) - Elfen Lied.
you have it reversed. the ending of Oldboy shows the horror of incest in general in Asia. when incest is used in Asian films, those engaging in it MUST die or suffer horribly. even though Oldboy didn't know while it was happening.
there are a huge number of American films with incest, I see them listed below. the incest in American films is almost always attributed to 1) European royalty or 2) hicks/rednecks/hillbillies. also devout Southern Christians of low intelligence.
the truth is, in America incest is freakislhly common across all classes. because no one talks about it openly, it thrives in secret and the victims are very rarely believed.
Dae-su was pretty disgusted about what's his name *beep* his sister. Also he went *beep* insane when he found out he boned his own daughter. Seems pretty taboo there too.
