incest just seems to be more prevalent in asian countries

it just does. This type of story is almost non-existent in western society.

Is this because Eastern countries are still very pre-dominantly asian, whilst Western countries have become more mixed? I think it is, if everyone looks the same I suppose incest could become easier... kinda sick to say but there ya go

If you're comparing foreign and American movies, the closest thing you can compare them to are American independent films. Most feoregn films try to make you feel alive putting you in others shoes as if you read a book, American films are made to do the opposite, distract from reality.

Although your post is totally racist, I have noticed a brother/sister incest theme come up in several anime. I don't know the titles of any of them, because other people were watching while I just happened to be in the room, and I've seen people talking about them online (I think I remember one having angels as the main characters). I think it is a common trope, but only really in Japanese anime, which says nothing of all Asians from everywhere.

Not to mention, that even in a smaller country like Korea, there are plenty of people there to avoid even accidental incest. (Though of course it happens everywhere on earth, mostly in abusive situations.)

After a search, I think the anime I remember with the angels must have been Angel Sanctuary/Tenshi Kinryoku. I may have been around 16 (17 years ago) when I sort of saw some of it. I remember thinking it was very... "What?"

In Japan, they had a lot of media exposure of stories of incest in the 90s. There were stories that usually were presenting relations between mothers and sons. Some of them true, but that does not mean that it's a norm. Then, manga and TV made it look bigger than it really was. So, there are some cultural differences, and it's a subject that's more relevant in Asiatic countries than in Western culture.

There’s far more incest going on in your basement.

This thread is a time capsule.
9 years ago, it was more common here I guess to assume that Japanese people are the same as Korean people.

Because it certainly was not a Japanese writer who made that twist. lol

Also, you replied to a poster from IMDB lmao

It doesn't matter. The reply is to the post.

lmfao. okay bud. If you get off on sending one-liners to nearly decade-old posts from a different website, more power to you.

I've seen like 5 Western films with incestuous themes, you've seen 2 Asian films, korean and japanese. So my 5 trumps yours.

Has anyone mentioned Hotel New Hampshire yet? There was some mild incest in that film.
