The subtitles ruin it, should have all been in English

For a major popcorny movie it is very hard to watch with most of it not in English.

It is really well filmed, probably Tarantinos best directed, but you are reading the screen most of the time.

Oh wow, the stupids are really coming out of the woodwork now. GenoWashingline is one of 'em.

Please tell me he's not American. I'd really like to kick the dumb American stereotype some days. It would be pretty satisfying to find out he's European.

Subtitles are shit only forced in USA to keep foreign movies relegated.
They ruin this one and any other movie.
They added zero to it.
If they were meant to add realism or authenticity, they failed miserably.

Just saw the film, and I thought it added a touch of realism. It always irritates me when WW2 movies have Germans speaking English. It detracts from the realism.

reply

Agree. I can see producers wanting to do that back in the 60s, but not in the modern era.

Also, in at least some scenes, there were NO subtitles like for some German dialogue when we first saw Hitler here. At least not at all on my DVD copy. And I think there weren't any for that scene in the cinema version I saw either.

I don't mind subs. I've seen so many foreign films with subs that I've gotten used to them. Keep trying, Geno. You'll get used to'em eventually.

seeing characters speak English for no reason is irritating
