Torture porn
Torture porn masquerading as piety.
shareOh yes, I've always called this sick "movie" torture porn.
This is absolutely NOT torture porn. It is violent, but the violence has a purpose and there is a story that the film is telling. It is not just violence for the sake of violence.
shareI think torture porn is what people call it that haven't actually watched it. I've seen movies that were far worse than this one in terms of violence depicted, many with less... but none were intended to get a person off. If someone has that type of fetish I'm sure they are the ones master bating to the scenes of Dustin Hoffman being tortured in Marathon Man.
shareOh, I've seen both movies, Thomas, believe me.
1. PotC IS torture porn, and it was probably beyond what the real Christ went through... if he even existed in the first place.
2. How can one masturbate to a dentist scene?
Well if you consider it torture porn when you watched it then we all know you are one sick fucker that enjoys torture porn because a normal person wouldn't see it as torture porn.
shareSo if I was Christian, I would be crying my eyes out instead? No, I'm not even religious, in fact, I DETEST religion in all its forms, so don't you go telling me what I am!
You protest to much you sick fuck.
shareI call this movie out for what it is. How does that make me sick? If anything, I'm against Mel Gibson demonising the Jews as the CAUSE for his torture and execution. Aren't YOU sick instead?
So you are an idiot. Gibson didn't write the Bible, he simply retold the story... And considering Jesus was a jew and Gibson tries to follow Jesus I'm not sure how you can say he is demonizing jews. Stop babbling on you ignorant cunt and go jack off to your videos of people killing animal fucking fetish freak.
shareI can tell you that I'm not a fan or gore in movies, but this film did not offend my senses.
shareSo?
shareI've heard it called that by many people. I'm undecided about taking a position here. There's no denying that there's a lot of violence in the movie.
On the one hand many films that depict Jesus's life and death whitewash the whole crucifixion scene. It is a very slow and painful way to die - hence the word "excruciating". The Romans used to let bodies hang on the cross for some time after death to impress the locals. Much the way Saving Private Ryan made war movies more realistic, The Passion of the Christ gave audiences a more accurate picture of crucifixion.
Many of the critics would argue that the violence borders on excess; that it has violence for violence's sake. The violence is graphic to the point that it could be argued that it was used as a selling point for the movie. Many would say that Jesus' message was lost in the movie.
Debating that this is torture porn could be like asking when a romantic comedy with sex in it becomes an adult film - much like asking if the movies Short Bus or Kids are porn or simply an art house film.
"The Romans used to let bodies hang on the cross for some time after death to impress the locals."
Some perfect examples of that in Monty Python's Life of Brian, even though it's a satirical comedy.

I guess I have never really understood this sentiment. Yes, it's violent, but in the end I believe there are only two deaths that are actually shown (Christ and Judas). There's also a *purpose* to the violence in the movie, as people have been contemplating it for theological and eschatological reasons for thousands of years.
Contrast this with your average horror film in which dozens - or hundreds - of people are killed in ghoulish ways, and why? For mere entertainment value. Even think of John Wick films in which he mows downs dozens of people in a way that is intended to give the audience a kind of adrenaline rush.
But people think this movie is over the top? I suspect that most critics who adopt this attitude are simply expressing latent Anti-Christian attitudes.
Agreed.
shareThe torture didn't even happen. Jesus was an ordinary slave who altered is slavery job for a rest on the cross dreaming about going to a dreamworld as he died painlessly of thirst.... you would think the future humans would be more developed and give him a suicide pill to make him their saviour this time around.
shareI don't mind being a sexy female Jesis Kristy.... edit. I DO NOT want to be a sexy woman.
