Best book, worse film
Surprised to see this film ranking higher than the three before it. This was a hugely disappointing film. On the other hand, The Half Blood Prince, which was my least favourite book, is my favourite film.

shareAgreed. This was and is my favorite book of the series, but the movie is so disappointing. And yep, HBP is my least favorite of the books, but the movie is the best of all of them.
*****
People said love was blind, but what they meant was that love blinded them.
HBP suffered because Jo regretted making OP so lengthy. HBP would've been much better had she allowed herself to make it a little longer and add in more of those smaller moments with the characters (imvho), to make up for how "distant" the book was, since so much of it is devoted to being outside (even if only a technicality at times) of the castle.
shareInteresting, to me the Goblet of Fire and Half-Blood Prince films felt particularly similar in story and style but the latter really felt more like a collection of scenes rather than its own complete story.
shareWhile not 'hugely disappointing', GOF film is my least fav of the series. Action, teen angst, & charmless.
The book I will add is my #2 of the series. At least we'll always have that- while POA is my #1 for both mediums, GOF book was probably the most immersive- I'd never read such a large book so quickly before in my life.

Actually I really enjoyed this movie. Order of the Pheonix and everything after really ruined the movies for me.
shareTHE PHILOSOPHER'S STONE: 8/10
THE CHAMBER OF SECRETS: 7/10
THE PRISONER OF AZKABAN: 7/10
THE GOBLET OF FIRE: 8/10
THE ORDER OF PHOENIX: 7/10
THE HALF-BLOOD PRINCE: 7/10
THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 1: 6/10
THE DEATHLY HALLOWS PART 2: 8/10
You wrote the topic wrong. It's best book, best film. As in best for both.
shareI thought that this was the most enjoyable HP film.
sharePrisoner of Azkaban is ranked higher actually
shareNot a big Harry Potter fan but decided to see the movies because I like the idea of the setting, and would love it if it was less of a children's series. While the first 2 were ok, the 3rd was pretty promising. When I saw this I lost all interest in going further. This movie is horrid, I rate it 4/10.
I'm amazed to hear that the book is good because it is the plot I find is the weakest here and the book must have had something different. Plot holes big enough to run the Hogwarts express through.
