I don't understand how or why this would be entertainment for anyone. It just got a lot of hype because of the stars when it came out. Useless movie with no point or moral.
shareMeeehhh I think it has quite a good message: Don't act on impulse, wait for the police/whomever to exhaust all possibilities, even if it's taking a long time. Don't judge a book by its cover, etc. Solid 7/10.
shareI just couldn't accept the plot. The idea that Sean Penn's daughter was killed in a small town on the same night that his friend Tim Robbins, who has been a victim of child abuse, encountered a child abuser and beat him up, just felt too contrived to me.
A lot of films have coincidences and you either go along with them or you don't. This was supposed to be a gritty crime drama, so I couldn't. I don't know if it's the same in the novel but the film had weak writing.
