I can't believe people liked the original more than this remake!

After I finished the book, I was so excited to see the original version. I also saw there was a remake, so I rented them both. This one stayed true to the book, and so many of the scenes that I was looking forward to seeing in the original and that weren't there were here (e.g, confrontation between Mr. Hargensen and the principal, the scene with young Carrie and the neighbor, the rocks falling through the roof.) Also the ending was happy and I wanted to see Carrie happy, just like Ms. Desjarden said! Does anyone agree?

JUST ACCEPT IT!

What you have to understand is that in 1976, carrie was a very scary, and disturbing movie. There wasn't much like it around. It had a greater impact on me because I was much younger while viewing it.

This remake was decent (except for the happy ending but that's just personal opinion) but it didn't bring much to the table. Of course if you like it better that's fine, its your right. But its not unreasonable that many people are going to like the original better and even hate the remake.

I haven't seen this film, nor do I have any outright desire to, but I do have to say originals aren't always the best. Especially when they are unfaithful to the original source.

Of course, I'm guessing you're one of the people who'd also believe that the MGM Wizard of Oz was not only the original film version of that book (which it isn't at all) but also faithful to the book as well (which it isn't - not by a long shot) since it's a classic and all.

Just because something is deemed a classic doesn't mean it doesn't pander to insipid mentality as well.

i agree i always found this remake better. the characters were portrayed better (Tommy and Sue especially) and the pacing was a lot better. some scenes drug but not too many.

This one does stay closer to the book, but I still feel the '76 version was better than the remake. The only thing the remake did better was the display of Carrie's powers and the strength of them, which were done in quite a weak way in the original.
Carrie's mother was also much better in the original, and I related more to Sue in the original despite her having more scenes in the remake.

Lois & Clark 4EVER!!!
DC can SUCK IT!!!!

Wow, me and my boyfriend saw the first 3-5 minutes of the movie and already knew it was *beep* It's obvious the original is better.

IMDB is nothing but criticism. Expect it.
