A masterpiece of a film
That is all.
shareagreed. great movie.
shareDid ewan get a nomination? If not he definitely should have, he totally carried the film. I heard that initially jack nickelson was supposed to play the lead with spielburg at the helm. That movie would not have been at all as good as it is now, and definitely would've felt alot more different with nickelson as the main character. Alot more darker.

NOT a Tim Burton fan, at all!
But that said, my relationship with my father, could be distant and at times I've never known what to believe...
When I realised there was always truth in his many stories, we grew closer
Thanks "BIG FISH" for those memories!
p.s. - He died in 2003.
Hugs Kisses & Applause
Pretty much, yes.
shareI can say that this is the film for people who "get it". You need to have the experience and the right mind set to get this movie. When I first watched this movie I didn't find it very moving, but I thought it was still good. However, upon watching it again I can say it is the only movie (other than The Return of The King) to actually make me shed a tear.
Great movie. Burton's best.
I thought this movie was boring and pointless. An old man tells over-the-top fantasy stories. All the time. That's all he does. How is that touching or heartwarming? Plus the stories were soooo cheesy. The net effect is total boredom. I just don't see how this can touch anyone.
shareProbably because you are a psychopath. You are probably the type of guy that kicks stray dogs
shareNo way. I love a good tear-jerker. This movie just didn't do anything for me. Maybe if the dad at least had some character development. But he had none. All he did was tell lies basically. Fantasy stories. If they would have established that he was mentally-challenged in some way and really believed what he was saying....then some of the movie might have been heartwarming or sad or whatever. But no. And the stories got boring too, starting when he started talking about his future wife.
Right after this, I watched the movie 'Rocky Balboa'....and it was more emotional than 'Big Fish'. When Rocky was reminiscing about his late wife, I got a little teared-up.
Couldnt agree more!
