I don't know whether angels exist or not but it always amazes me how people speak with such confidence and arrogance about something they know nothing about. Prove to me that angels don't exist.

The angels were a hallucination. As with Harper's Valium induced hallucinations, Prior was just imagining this stuff. The series (and the source material) wasn't about Angels at all. It was about homosexuality in the 1980's, AIDS, stigma, classicism, racism and relationships.
