shareyeah, I totally think that was an intentional plot twist. The lady at the wedding even asks him if he has feelings for the groom, so the audience would be led to believe as such until the moment when the tape recording that he filmed was revealed to focus entirely on Keira.

AS you said the lady asks if he has feelings for the groom, and Keira Knightley's characters also makes the comment that she thought he didn't like her or kept her distant because he liked her husband. Definitely seems like it was intended to make you think that he was gay and into the groom
