June Carter

She was really pretty, but did anyone else hate her character?

reply

I suspect we were SUPPOSED to hate her character, but the funny thing is, I really didn't. Alicia Witt looks like such a sweetie to me, for one thing. Plus the director didn't really do that much to make her unlikeable.

...So she liked Hugh Grant's character...big deal. She seemed likeable enough to me.

For someone who was supposed to come from small town existence she sure had a lot of moves. She began sucking up to Lucy, then when she realized there were bigger fish to fry she went after George. I agree with the poster who said she acted so superior to everyone else. Brand new to the firm and she was behaving as though she was a partner in the company. And the fact that she grew so indignant at Lucy's comment about her playing strip poker with George...uh...hello? Did she forget where she was the night before? lol

Agreed. Couldn't stand her. And her outfit at that party they went to was hideous, although Hugh's tie was amazing! lol

I could tell by the look in his eyes that maybe I'm just another one of his lies

Couldn't stand her. Everytime I watch this movie, I hate her even more

1st) that tennis match with her, George, Lucy, and the other guy. She was soooooo trying to make Lucy look bad.

2nd) Her interupting Lucy and George's conversation in his office. Rude

3rd) Her rubbing it in Lucy's face that George "asked" her to go to the charity function with him. (though, he didn't ask her personally, not like a date). She clearly picked up from the beginning that George had a thing for Lucy and set out to make Lucy jealous, and just replace Lucy's role in George's life altogether, even though she was only taking over her position at work.

4th) her outfit at the party was, as the above poster said, hideous. Wearing that hat was supid, and the back of the dress was just wrong. Whole thing= wrong. Lucy looked so much better.

5th) forcing herself on George at the end of the night, making out with him, suggesting strip poker, playing strip poker...and claiming to separate her personal and professional life. can you spell...hypocrite?

6th) Her fighting Lucy over the stapler. For goodness sakes, she just wanted the stapler. She was just being bitter that Lucy called her out on her blatant show of hypocrisy the night before at George's apartment.

Women like her are pathetic

Anywhere you go, let me go too...that's all I ask of you

reply

Amen to that. Plus, its sad to know there are really people like her in this world. Pathetic.

I can't stand Alicia Witt. I think she's a terrible actress, and so the stage was already set for me to hate her character.

But, I have to point out that her name is actually June Carver, not Carter.

reply

I didn't care for her dress either. I laughed out loud when she told Lucy she loved her dress instead of just admitting how beautiful she looked.

reply

I did because I think although she was well educated I think she was just using this as a stop gap to bag herself a rich husband. Just got that vibe off her.

reply

I really hated how she was fishing for an invitation to the function thing. I think Alicia Witt is rather ugly. lol. Sandra Bullock is much prettier.

reply

She was the stereotypical character who did everything to get to the top... she is the typical character for George Wade (well before Lucy came along), his office affair.

reply

And of course she talked with Trump in the party and wanted to work for Trump's company.

reply

I just hated her lack of professionalism mostly. She showed up unannounced to try to get a job that she'd been rejected from, and then there was the whole leaving early on like her second day of work to go to a benefit she invited herself too. Lastly, there was the whole trying to sleep with her boss thing...

Watched this movie at the weekend needed something to pass the time before CSI New York. Have to agree disliked the character June. She came across really desperate

"Look upward... and share the wonders I have seen" John Crichton, Farscape

reply

I don't think we were supposed to like her character, especially when juxaposed with the other characters. Creating a dislike for June enhanced the audiences liking for Lucy and made us want to really root for Lucy and Wade to get together... it also created more interest and a catalyst for the two main characters to get together.

reply

I think she had a very obvious agenda. That's what I found irritating about her. She kept trying to charm people with her empty compliments, but it seemed pretty obvious that the only reason she went after that job is to get into George's pants. She, very obviously, wanted to be the next Mrs. Wade, lol.

In order for you to insult me, I would first have to value your opinion.

She was charming but manipulative like many charming people are. Her youth showed her insecurities.
She has a pretty face but the rest is just meh, I like bigger boobs.

reply

she's annoying, but then she's supposed to be. I thought she played the part very well.
