Whom did you like better?

Sharona or Natalie?

reply

Sharona and it's not even a contest.

The actress got a raw deal and never should have been let go. I'm glad they at least brought her back at the end for some closure.

reply

What happened to Sharona?

reply

The actors for the three supporting characters (Sharona, Fisher, Stottlemeyer) joined together in mid season 3 to demand pay raises. When the show came back for the second half on the season, the two males were brought back and Sharona was replaced.

reply

I read her paychecks kept bouncing. That is pretty bad.

reply

Sorry I can't feel any sympathy for an actor that tries to renegotiate their contract. You sign up for a deal where you are happy with the money, okay be happy with it until the contract expires then go try to get more... but when actors try to hold a producer hostage and demand more money.. frankly they should have fired all three.

reply

The way I heard the story, Bitty demanded equal pay to Tony Shaloub which would have given her more money than the other two. That led to them asking for more as well. When they told her no she walked (not fired). The other two settled for less.

reply

Exactly.
And it's not some loyalty because she was the original.

I hated, hatd, hated, the whiny Natalie character, even though they tried to play her like a tough cookie.

The fact that I continued to enjoy Monk with this new character just shows you how great a show it was.
That I honestly thought would have a least monthly movies.

reply

I tend to find that if I watch a few episodes of Sharona, I'm used to her, but then feel I enjoy Natalie more when I'm watching her.

That probably means Natalie but only because she's in more episodes. Not much in it.

reply

Her daughter probably grew up to be beautiful?

reply

The show was about Monk and Tony Shalhoub was so great, almost any assistant would have worked in the role. But I do prefer Sharona. Natalie played the assistant role a lot longer and the actress did have some great moments. What bugged me about the character was how many times she was referred to as "beautiful". Okay, with the right lighting, she looked good. But come on, who were they trying to kid? She was average looking at best. This was no Farrah Fawcett despite the blonde hair!

There were times when I wished Natalie would get remarried and retire and they could have brought in Niecy Nash. She was a scream as Sharona's temporary replacement when Sharona was "seeing dead people."

"Wipe, wipe!!"

"Wipe WHAT?"

reply

You must have some crazy high standards if you believe that Traylor Howard was average looking.
