The actress got a raw deal and never should have been let go. I'm glad they at least brought her back at the end for some closure.
What happened to Sharona?
shareThe actors for the three supporting characters (Sharona, Fisher, Stottlemeyer) joined together in mid season 3 to demand pay raises. When the show came back for the second half on the season, the two males were brought back and Sharona was replaced.
shareI read her paychecks kept bouncing. That is pretty bad.
shareSorry I can't feel any sympathy for an actor that tries to renegotiate their contract. You sign up for a deal where you are happy with the money, okay be happy with it until the contract expires then go try to get more... but when actors try to hold a producer hostage and demand more money.. frankly they should have fired all three.
shareThe way I heard the story, Bitty demanded equal pay to Tony Shaloub which would have given her more money than the other two. That led to them asking for more as well. When they told her no she walked (not fired). The other two settled for less.

And it's not some loyalty because she was the original.
I hated, hatd, hated, the whiny Natalie character, even though they tried to play her like a tough cookie.
The fact that I continued to enjoy Monk with this new character just shows you how great a show it was.
That I honestly thought would have a least monthly movies.
