Who read the book in school?

We had to, then we were lucky enough to get to see it in theaters in 7th Grade.
We took a class trip and the entire 7th grade, aka 3 or 4 classes went to a local theater.

I read it in 5th grade during school. When we got to the part about the Warden (or maybe it was Mr. Sir), and they described him/her sitting at a desk with his/her feet on the desk. So my teacher let us put our feet on our desks every time we read Holes :)

Then after reading it, my class watched the movie. I had already seen it on disney channel tons of times though.

My brother did a book report on it when I was younger, so I heard him talking about it. You could get extra credit if you dressed up like a character from the book. So he wore one of dad's orange hunting coveralls, and brought a shovel. It was awesome.

The summer I was going into 7th grade I went on vacation with my parents to the beach for 2 weeks. It was so boring because my brothers were "too old" for our vacations and had to work. So when we were shopping at Wal Mart I bought Holes from the discounted dvd's, and I watched it all the time in our camper on that vacation. I was obsessed. Then for my summer reading book, I chose Holes and had to write an essay about it when I got to school in the fall.

I re-read my original post and noticed it was very vague.

In 7th grade, which I attended in 2002-2003 the whole class was given the book to read and we had many assignments based on the book. I think we were broken into groups to discuss the book. I actually went to see the movie in theaters myself.

Then maybe a week or 2 later the whole grade went on a field trip to a local theater to see the movie.

My original wording made it sound like I had seen it in theaters after it's original release, in a special screening, but it was actually during it's original release. I edited the original post.

I read the book in 4th grade and the our class went to see the movie in theaters. I love the book and the movie, and can tell because I feel just as excited now (I am in my first year of college)about the adventure as I was when I first read the story.
