Those Poor Kids!
I know, it was the 50's, this is a melodrama, and children were still to be "seen and not heard", but the Whitaker kids sure got the short end of the stick!
'Stop bothering your father, he has to work'; 'no, stop bothering us, we're busy', 'no, your father can't come to your football game, he's busy. We're busy, he's busy, I'm busy. We're too busy looking perfect. Sheesh, the Draper kids had better parents!
I like to think that life was much more like 'Leave it to Beaver', where the parents, though regular 50's parents, were much nicer, and much more involved in their children's daily lives.
