In Asia's book, she stated: "I was happy, especially for the huge fee I was going to be paid, but I was no longer interested in this coveted Hollywood career."
Later on, she wrote: "The public loved my role as a kick-ass girl, the journalists my personality. I was doing more and more covers of American magazines in skimpy outfits, TV interviews, red carpets... I had also changed agents, chosen the woman who looked after Johnny Depp, I was being offered screen tests. I said to myself: "OK, I've succeeded there too." But as I've already written, I didn't give a damn about being a smashing actress in Hollywood."
"Contrary to what my agent would have liked, I turned down a lead role in 2 Fast 2 Furious, as well as leading roles in comedies and other commercial bullshit films. I had other plans, I wanted to capitalize on the success and money of xXx for my next film, because I knew the challenge of making an independent film dealing with a subject as serious as child abuse. My agent implored me: "Make a few million as an actress first." I hired another agent to find me roles that pay well without taking too much time, even in crappy films. I needed the money to stay in Los Angeles, feed my daughter and shoot my film."
