Swept Away is a GOOD MOVIE

Hi everyone,
I am just here to make my opinions on this film clear.
Its a good movie!
If you saw the original and liked it, you will like this version just the same.
Madonna plays her role to perfection, and the supporting characters are funny.
Her costar Adriano is wonderful in it as well.

The critics are having a ball bashing this film but if the regular movie goer sees the film after reading the reviews, they will come out of the theater scrating their heads as to why they have ripped it to shreads.

Its really a personal attack against madonna and has nothing to do w/ this movie.
Guy ritchie is a talented director and he should be proud of this movie as I am sure he must be. Great soundtrack to the film as well.

I'm not a Madonna fan, but I don't hate her either. As I've said on another thread here, she has talent when it comes to singing and dancing. She's also quite physically attractive, especially with the long blonde hair she's been sporting lately.

That aside, I don't know how anyone can honestly say she acted well in this, or any movie she has been in, the musical Evita aside. She is too wooden and uninspired in her delivery of lines to be believable. A good actor giving a good performance will become the character and make you believe they are them.
She doesn't.

As I also said in the other thread, she should make more musicals. She's good at it and musicals have been making money these days.

Leave the film alone, its a sweet movie nothing more, nothing less.

The problem is, tens of thousands of people left this movie alone. : )

This is a movie discussion forum...its purpose is for people to discuss movies after seeing them. (Sometimes it helps get the bad taste out of one's mouth.)

ok, i REALLY liked this movie. If you replay it you will even discover new horizons in the movie. the direction is good, the same with the acting, the screenplay had some mistkaes and some unclear points like "why is Madonna so misserable?", the worst thing here was the editing.
ok so why was this movie attacked? its very simple seeing madonna "the Americn culture" beeing slapped & kicked by a "a less developed culture" could be offensive to fanatics. to speak the truth as a madonna fan i was offended. but it is a movie right? the movie isnt shallow & it has important political issues. But why destroying madonna now? its very simple listen to her latesr "great" album and you will know. Her political action against american policies is the problem. maybe if she was jewisih it wouldnt be the same right? ;)
does anyone know the name of the song in the opening titles "before" the greek track? cause its not in the soundtrack

I liked this film too, but all this Madonna bashing because critics don't like this film is getting ridiculous. I think Adriano did a great job and Madonna was pretty good. I bet if Madonna had been replaced with another actress it wouldn't have had such a bad press, and what a SHAME. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion, but seems to me that a lot of people just follow the status quo and don't have much of an opinion of their own a lot of times.
anyways still liked the film.

I'm not a Madonna fan in any manner of speaking, but I've liked some of her movies in the past (I thought she gave a pretty endearing performance in a League of Their Own) so I decided to give this one a go, since it was on tv. I had to turn it off, I could not believe how godawful it was. Madonna is not a real actress, this is evident EVERYWHERE. And I did say that she gave an endearing performance in A League of Their Own, but come on...she was playing herself. And Evita? Still playing herself. The problem comes in when the script asks her to do something she would NEVER do, and she just does not have the dramatic skills to pull it off. In one scene, she was meant to look as if she'd just reached a turning point, and was reconsidering her whole outlook on life. But (and I agree with a reviewer completely on this one) she just looked like "her voguing wires had shorted out." It was absolutely painful to watch. Shame too, I liked a lot of Guy Ritchie's films. Here's hoping he and Madonna get back on their feet!

Yes, thats a new opinion I heard about this movie: just brilliant.

But, is not the kind of movie, american people can understand nor will do in a near future. The metaphor that goes back, really deep, is the most important thing that has been passed alongside.

I can't wait to watch this movie. Guy Ritchie is one of the best directors of these days.

How do you know if you haven't seen it?

I was up late last night fumbling through the channels and came apon this movie. I thought it was great! I never even heard of it till last night. I am not a big fan of Madonna but she made me care for her while on that island. jeannie-1 you got good taste.

Just saw it tonight on cable and have to say I liked it very much. I've also seen the original, and this was a decent remake, with a superb performance from Adriano Giannini, the son of the great Giancarlo Giannini (who played the fisherman originally). Madonna was also excellent throughout, making her transformation completely believable. It worked as a social statement as well - both about the class system and male/female relationships. Even at the end, Madonna's Amber was being controlled by a man (her husband).
