When did Scrubs go sour for you (if ever)?
Looking around the internet, I've noticed a lot of varying opinions of when this show started to go downhill. So... when do you personally think the show started to take a dive in quality?

shareI can't say it ever went sour for me, but when the pot/stoner humor got ingrained way too deeply into the show, like having JD get stuffed into a backpack, that kind of stuff was annoying.
Looking back at the series overall, given JD's uber dorkoid personality, the fact he hooked up with so many hot chicks was unbelievable.

The people I've talked to who were Scrubs fans from day one all say the show dipped in quality around season 7, 8, or 9. They also tend to agree that season 8's was an amazing (and the official) finale. I know you want old fans to have your opinion but I don't think that most would agree with you about season 3 being the dipping point.
PLOT HOLE: Aspect of a film that is misunderstood, ignored, or missed while using your smart phone.
The end of Season 3 till the end of season 7. It was okay, but they didn't get GOOD again until 8. I love every bit of season 8.
shareI can't put my finger on the exact time, but there were a series of events that made the decline of show:
-Kelso retired - His retirement wouldn't have been too bad if his character didn't linger and then become
some 'hip' old pervert, not to mention his newly found friendship with Cox.
-The "brain trust"
-Laverne "Again"
-The interns - The best intern, Ed, had the least screen time. However, Denise shined when Drew arrived in season 9.
-The janitor's wedding
-Kim gets pregnant
-J.D's daydreams get longer and dumber
-Jordan goes from hot to scary paralyzed face
-J.D. and Elliot hook-up a third time - at this point, only two things could happen:
1.) they break up. this would seriously annoy/insult viewers
2.) they get married, not the worst storyline, but it meant no more interesting boyfriends and girlfriends
Even at its worst, Scrubs still managed to be better than most shows on TV.
I'm not an actor, I just play one on TV.
You know what's funny? I don't think it really did for me personally, even though I used to think otherwise. I felt so betrayed when they came back with Season 9, because I thought the ending of Season 8 was the most perfect series finale in the history of American television. BUT..... *please don't throw rocks at me for the following paragraph*
I recently rewatched Season 9 on its own after I bit the bullet and bought it. And you know what? If you watch it alone without the context of the other seasons... it's a pretty decent show! *ducks rocks* It has heart and some pretty decent humor, and I didn't mind the lead character. I loved that she had an innocence and inner monologue akin to J.D's. The supporting characters were good too, but they would've had to flesh out her jerk of a boyfriend more if they wanted to keep him in as a likeable guy. But then if you start thinking about the prior seasons you fall into that, "I miss Janitor, where's Carla, this hospital looks so different" trap. But when I stopped giving it so many lofty expectations I fully enjoyed Season 9. It made me laugh.... which is all I ever want from a sitcom in the end.
Plus it's nice to see proof that JD and Eliot got their happy ending that he saw in his fantasy at the end of 8! :)
I completely agree with you. I enjoyed season 9 and was kinda bummed when it ended (abruptly). And as much as people criticize it, it was better than most shows on TV at the time. However, it should have been presented as a spinoff. JD should have been restricted to cameo appearences, but Dr. Cox, Turk and Denise worked great with the new cast.

Yeah... perhaps we would have had more than one season if it was presented as a spinoff, I think you're right! :)
shareDip in quality after after/during season 5, but awful after season 8. Oh god. I just watched the entire show on Netflix and I'm really trying to pull through season 9 and watch it all.... but wow. Taking season 9 out of the equation all together, and even the bad episodes are good.
